Bedford J Type 3.5 ton diesel tipper

This is my Bedford J Type diesel 3. 5 ton tipper which I have owned for the past 25 years.

It was new  to Pinch Plant of Rainham who had it down plated from 4. 5 tons to 3. 5 tons     when  it started out life as a single wheeled. stepside bodied fuel bowser in 1974.

Shortly after I acquired it. it became obvious that the body was on its last legs so a donor 1966 6 ton j  was sourced. the axles were swapped. the Edbro tipping gear including PTO pump was fitted and a new tipping body was fitted. I then worked it for some years.

Around 2001 it was put into dry storage and around 2007 the buck was completely rebuilt and a new made to measure canvas tilt fitted.

In 2008 it was re-commissioned. tested taxed and covered about 30 miles before going back into storage. which brings us up to date.

As I said I am only the second owner from new an I have FULL and comprehensive  maintenance records from new.

The power plant is a Bedford 220 diesel at about 3. 6 litre with a new stainless exhaust

All the tyres are 95% and the brakes are vacuum over hydraulic

It starts on the button every time without fail and drives through the gears as it should

It has had some historic welding carried out in a couple of places mostly the O/S inner wing but that was many years ago and there is no current rust.

Since bringing it out I`ve noticed a couple of snags:

Heater blower has stopped working. the locking ring for the light switch has been lost

This lorry is by no means in concourse condition but is in good condition and a usable motor. but please bear in mind it is as it came out of storage and will need a small amount of work to re- commission it.

I would REALLY prefer any SERIOUS interested parties to come and view the vehicle before bidding so as to avoid any "yeah but I didn`t think" or "I didn`t realise"

The balance in cash and must be collected within seven days unless otherwise agreed

There is no buy  it now and the auction will run to the end

PS I have 2 spare engines in unknown condition. a spare gearbox. diff and various wheels and tyres available by separate negotiation.

I have tried to describe it to the best of my ability but as I said I would much prefer that you view before bidding so you are familiar with the vehicle.
