VERY REGRETFULLY PUTTING MY XR4I UP FOR SALE DUE TO LACK OF USE/TIME. I WILL KEEP THIS VERY BRIEF AS I FEEL THE BEST THING IS TO TAKE THE TIME TO COME AND SEE THE CAR AS MY VIEWS MAYBE VERY DIFFERENT FROM YOURS. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR OVER 5YRS AND IN THAT TIME I HAVE DONE MANY UPGRADES TO THE CARS LOOKS AND PERFORMANCE. EXCELLENT BODYWORK AND PAINT AND VERY SOLID ON TOP AND UNDERNEATH. ALTHOUGH THERE IS SOME ODD MINOR MARKS THERE ARE NO ISSUES THAT NEED ATTENTION WITH EITHER THE BODYWORK OR MECHANICALS. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE WILL THINK THE PRICE IS TOO HIGH BUT THESE CARS ARE COMING UP IN VALUE AND THIS IS WELL MODIFIED (THE ENGINE ALONE COST £3600 AND THATS WITHOUT THE SWAYMAR HEADS) STILL LOOKS LIKE A 2. 8 UNDER THE BONNET AND WILL BE MUCH CHEAPER TO INSURE AND MAINTAIN THAN A COSSIE OF SIMILAR PURCHASE PRICE.

BODYWORK.

IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH VERY GOOD PAINTWORK. THE ODD MARK HERE AND THERE BUT NOTHING THAT SPOILS THE LOOK OF THE CAR. GENUINE 3 DOOR BONNET AND VENTS. NO RUST IN THE USUAL PLACES. IE BOTTOM OF DOORS. BATTERY TRAY. REAR OF CHASSIS.

ENGINE.

2. 8 ENGINE BORED AND STROKED TO 3. 2 GIVING THE ENGINE MUCH NEEDED IMPROVEMENT IN THE LOWER REV RANGE MAKING IT MUCH LIKE THE OLD 3. 0 ESSEX. CRANK. LTRA LIGHT FLYWHEEL. FRONT PULLEY. RODS AND PISTONS ALL FULLY BALANCED. THE ENGINE IS VERY SMOOTH AND REVS LIKE A 4 CYLINDER ENGINE. 11-1 COMP. HEAVY DUTY ROD AND HEAD BOLTS. HD CRANK BEARINGS. PIPER BP285 CAM. QUAIFFE STEEL TIMING GEAR. HP OIL PUMP. H&H MODIFIED DIZZY. VIBRA TECH ENGINE MOUNTS. SILICONE PERFORMANCE LEADS. THE ENGINE HAD STAGE 2 HEADS AND WAS DYNO'D @ 180BHP AND 200FT LB OF TOUQUE. I HAVE SINCE FITTED A PAIR OF ULTRA RARE SWAYMAR STAGE3  6 PORT HEADS WHICH HAVE BEEN FULLY OVERHAULED AND FITTED WITH UNLEADED VALVE SEATS AND STEEL ROCKER ASSEMBLY AND A MUCH MODIFIED INLET/PLENIUM/THROTTLE HOUSING TO IMPROVE BREATHING. nbsp;THIS TOOK POWER UPTO 208BHP AND 224FT LB SO QUITE AN IMPRESSIVE IMPROVEMENT. nbsp; THIS ENGINE IS PUTTING OUT THE SAME IF NOT MORE THAT A 24V COSWORTH V6 THAT HAS BEEN MILDLY TUNED AND YES IT DID COST THE PREVIOUS OWNER ALOT MORE BUT KEEPING A STANDARD LOOK UNDER THE BONNET. IF I HAD THE TIME I KNOW THIS ENGINE WOULD MAKE MUCH MORE POWER IF IT WAS CONVERTED TO CARB SO A MUCH LONGER DURATION CAM CAN BE USED AS THE INJECTION DOESN'T RUN SMOOTH WITH LONG DURATION CAMS. nbsp;MY NEXT STEP WAS TO TRY A KENT T31 TO YEILD ABIT MORE TOPEND POWER  BUT AS IT IS THE ENGINE IS  VERY SMOOTH WITH LOADS OF LOW DOWN AND MID RANGE GRUNT AS WELL AS GOOD TOPEND POWER.

GEARBOX.

HYBRID OF A MT75 SCORPIO DIESEL (TALLER 5TH) AND A 4X4 MT75. FITTED WITH A QUICKSHIFT. MUCH STRONGER AND LIGHTER THAN THE STANDARD TYPE 9 BOX.

SUSPENSION.

SPAX SHOCKS AND LOWERED SPRINGS ALL ROUND. OSTLY POLY BUSHED THROUGH OUT (JUST REAR ARMS NOT DONE BUT BUSHES SUPPLIED. (NEW OWNERS GOT TO DO SOMETHING) COSWORTH FRONT AND REAR ANTI ROLLBARS FITTED. FRONT STRUT BRACE.

BRAKES.

HI SPEC 325MMX32MM GROOVED DISCS WITH ALLOY BELLS. COSSIE 4 POTS. EAR 290MM SOLID GROOVED DISCS. SIERRA CALIPERS. STEEL BRAIDED LINES ALL ROUND.

COSSIE 3 DOOR FRONT AND REAR SEATS IN GREAT CONDITION. UNCRACKED MK2 DASHTOP. LOCKWOOD WHITE DIALS. EXTRA REVTEC GAUGES. OIL PRESSURE. OIL TEMP AND VOLT METER. CAT 2 ALARM/IMMOB WITH REMOTE CENTRAL LOCKING.

BRAND NEW 17" LENSO D1R MATT BLACK 5 SPOKE ALLOYS WITH NEW 205/40 TYRES.

JUST TO SUM UP THIS CAR IS READY TO DRIVE AWAY VERY WELL SORTED WITH NO ISSUES AND WILL MAKE A GREAT TRACKDAY CAR WHICH I INTENDED TO USE IT FOR BUT HAVE JUST LOST INTREST  AND I DON'T DO MANY SHOWS THESE DAYS EITHER. My name is Jesus and i write you from Spain. I want to improve my '82 capri 2.8i but with a standard look under the bonnet. I know this is a dificult engine for serious improvement so I have long time looking for information about mods.... and i found your xr4i ad recently.
My desired mods are similar to yours so, maybe, you can help me with some info. Surely, you had problems that ill have...

The main mod is on the heads. This engine have serious breathing problems due the siamesed inlet and outlet. At the inlet side i need a new inlet manifold with 6 ports but the exhaust side is more complicated... I know swaymar 6ports heads some months ago but there is no sets for sale. I want to do this mod on my heads, but i havent enought info. Only some articles in old magazines and some photos (the best are from your ad). Have you more photos of the heads? (Especially the metal insert with the new exhaust ports).

I have read the "how to build and modify Ford v6 60° engines" book. In this book, the max recomended comp ratio is 10,7:1. You was used 11:1. This works fine?. Has you preignition problems?. Ignition advance degrees? Type of fuel? I suppose you use 98 octane fuel....

And the last question, i want to use a new hot cam. Has you check the kent t31 cam?. How it works?. Make it an unusable engine?

Any more important info you can tell me?
