Ok lets try again. I repeat at the start what I have already said before. This is a good car. Its not concours it has been welded. Its solid apart from whats stated below. For sale. 1969 2 door mk1 Escort. Ive owned this car for over 6 years. I bought it as an on the road but unfinished project. I made some quick modifications and finished off a few jobs so i could take it on the classic ford run to Mosel valley. The idea was to then put the finishing touches to the car. However it drove all the way to Germany. Spent many laps around the Nurburgring and drove back beautifully.  I then decided that driving it was better. So other than a few other mods and maintenance the car has stayed the same. More fun to drive hard than have a faultless shiny car in my opinion. The car has driven all over Britain and Europe on classic runs. shows and doing tulip rallies. Plus a few track days and trips down Santapod. The car is being sold because i can no longer afford to use it as much as i did. Also i have lost interest in working on it now i dont use it much and id rather someone else could enjoy it. As much as selling it is hurting ( ive been thinking about it for over a year! ) i dont want to see it wasting away in my garage.

Fitted with a Thatcham approved cat1 alarm and immobilisor and remote central locking.

Ford 2ltr 16v Zetec. Standard apart from ARP big end bolts and a BDA style rocker cover.

Large header radiator and 13 row oil cooler.

Jenvey 40mm Throttle bodies.

Emerald 3d mappable ignition.

4 branch manifold. Rest of exhaust is stainless steel.

5 speed type 9 close ratio gearbox. ( built by BGH Geartech) 1st=2. 66. 2nd=1. 75. 3rd=1. 26. 4th=1. 00. 5th=0. 86.

1800 zetec flywheel and clutch.

Quaife ATB lsd running a 3. 89 final drive ratio.

Alloy fuel tank with swirl pot.

Battery in boot.

Bilstein struts with 2 1/4" adjustable coil overs.

2. 4 quick turn rack.

Rally design pedal box.

Twin cam anti roll bar with double width anti dive kit.

Capri vented disks. New last year plus pads.

Mk2 rear axle.

4 linked and panhard rod.

Disk conversion with sierra calipers and fiesta disks. New caliper last year plus a new spare for other side as i ordered the wrong one first time.

Turreted with Gaz 2 1/4" coilover adjustable shocks. less than 2 yrs old.

Diamond white.

Strenghtened shel/

Welded roll cage.

Bucket seats with 4 point harnesses. Have a set of non adjustable classic style seats to go with car as well.

Minilight style wheels with good yokohama A539 tyres plus brand new never used spare.

The car will also be sold with a Rally Design larger gearbox tunnel and a fibreglass bonnet as i never got round to fitting them.

The bad bits. Well she is 44 years old! The car is in very good overall condition. never misses a beat and is very reliable. ( hence why engine hasnt been tuned other than the throttle bodies. Quick enough but not about to blow up). The paintwork is in good condition but does have a few chips and dings. A few rust spots on passenger door. both areas in between the door hinges have bubbled up. (replacement panels easily available). small rust hole under wing rail on nearside wing.  large paint chip on rear of car. severall other small rust spot around car but nothing major or structual. one of the chassis rails has a few bubbles but again not major. easily repairable and again new chassis rails available. The worst part is the bonnett. I forgot to pin it down severall years ago and it flipped on me. Luckely it didnt hit the screen but did bend the bonnet and twist the hinges. You can see from one of the pics i removed the hinges from the bulk head. Welded in new metal and re-spot welded the hinges to the car. Them i bought the new bonnet but havnt yet fitted it.

So basically here it is. She is a very reliable car. fast. noisey. handles great. gets looks and comments. fun. addictive and puts a smile on your face. She is not perfect. She is not original and wont win any concours prizes. I have been honest and i think i have covered most things. I do not want any swaps and i will let the auction run its course ( unless i win the lottery in which case im keeping her!).
