An attractive. original-bodied tourer. in sound. correct condition. nicely presented and driving well. Described by Park Ward as a "Sporting four seat tourer" specified as weighing 6 1/2 cwt. giving the car relatively sprightly performance. The car has been in use until very recently. and performs well. benefiting from the fitting of a new cylinder head in recent years. as well as various other attention. Comes with a fabulous history file. which includes correspondence. newspaper cuttings and photos from the 1950s. and the original logbook from 1926. as well as two later issues. We also have a complete ownership record from new. and we have been contacted by one of the previous owners. who bought the car in 1954 at the age of 18! Handsome. desirable and rare.

Having been delivered to S. D Hollingworth who was involved in the Insurance business including “Haldin & Philipps Ltd”. “B. C. I. Ltd” & “Hollingsworth & Hollingsworth”. The next owner was Norman William Sayer of Bennett & Sayer specialists in ironmongery. brickmaking and owners of lime works & quarries. By 1949 GUK50 was with Robert “Ginger” Henderson of Little Missenden who was not only a friend of Roald Dahl but inspired the character Gordon Hawes in his novel “Fifty Thousand Frogskins”. The next couple of owners were Airforce men. then GUK50 went into politics with Eric R. Lubbock – 4th Baron Avebury who was Liberal MP (1962/70) prior to politics E. Lubbock worked for Rolls-Royce as their production manager (1951/6). After a few years GUK50 was acquired by a member of the TATA family – Beramji S. Saklatvala - his father Shapurji Saklatvala was Labour MP for Battersea during the 1920s - he was actually the third Indian Member of the British Parliament. (Dadabhai Naoroji (Lib) & Mancherjee Bhownagree (Cons). After only a few years GUK50 was with the twins Michael & John Elles-Hill who in 1958 where a regular feature on the London scene. In 1958. the year of the Last Debutante Ball at Buckingham Balance they drove down The Mall in GUK50 whilst holding a placard saying “Goodbye Dear Debs”! They and the car were also featured in various newspapers when they joined a procession of charity cyclists including: Gloria Kindersley (who had been romantically linked with Lord Milford Haven) Lord V. Thynne (son of the 6th & brother of the 7th Marquess of Bath). Greville Howard (cousin of the Earl of Suffolk). Deidre Hamilton-Hill who became the 1st wife of Corin Redgrave. Between 1960 & 1998 GUK50 was in America with Meerily & Robert Dunlap before returning to the UK in 1998.
