Ok. here is my lovely Capri 2. 8i Special for sale.

This car was bought by myself in January this year. the car had been stood in a warehouse for over 20 years and only became for sale due to its owner sadly passing away. The car had had one family owner until 1994 when the deceased bought the car. The car was then used as their wedding car and they used it to tour Wales for their Honeymoon. then the car was parked up with the intention of getting it out occasionally but sadly this never happened. When the owner died it was transferred into her name so she could sell the car. then it went into my name. so really its a 3 owner car but the V5 states 6.

When I bought the car it was showing 16150 miles which the widow assured me was genuine. however due to the death of her husband she could not find the history to back it up but I genuinely had no reason to doubt her. The car had been stored well but as usually happens a few chips and marks appeared. worst being on the sunroof. But the car still wears its factory white paint. all original panels. and the panel gaps are all perfect! Ive been around Capris all my life and ive not seen such a straight. original car for years. all these points are the hallmarks of a genuine low mileage car. The car has never been welded. underneath is mint. the inner arches are still white and so are all the floor pans. again all these points confirm the mileage to me as genuine. When I cleaned 20 years of dust and cobwebs off I was amazed at how original it was so I decided it was worth spending money on to make a real gem of a car. So the mechanical work commenced to get the car road worthy again.

It was my intention to make the car a show car. so I bought new brakes. calipers. discs. shoes. slave cylinders so the whole braking system is now new. the engine hadn't been started for years so I removed the plugs and put some 3in1 oil down the bores. drained the old fuel. bought a new battery. cleaned the injectors and overhauled the injection system. drained the oil and coolant and refilled with all the correct fluids that I bought from Tickover Capri specialists. Then after 2/3 turns of the key it fired up and ran sweet and the engine sounded lovely. again. commensurate with the mileage. So when it was running I noticed leaks from the radiator so the whole cooling system was overhauled too. new rad. water pump. viscous fan. stat and new housing. all new coolant hoses. rad caps. but it would pressurise so my local garage removed the heads to find the anti freeze had broken down and separated leaving a sugar like deposit in the water ways. this was all sorted and the heads put back on. Now she starts and runs like a dream and no overheating at all. The car then failed its mot on hazard warning switch and high co2. this was then sorted and the car had its 1st MOT in years so I decided to tax it and use it for shows this year and ive covered about 1k in attending various shows over the summer. I also had the LSD oil replaced and a new diff cover and gasket was fitted.

Exterior.

The car looks great. the original paintwork looks great but there are a few areas that I was going to get done this winter to make perfect. It really needs the sunroof painting and the bonnet and the tops of the wings. the doors. arches. tailgate sills etc are all rust free and look superb. If the car doesn't sell ill be getting these done over the winter and ill sell it again next spring. I replaced the original wheels with a set of 15in Brooklands wheels. I had these fully stripped and refurbed at great cost. alos had new tyres fitted. I still have the 13in wheels if you prefer the original look but personally I love the 15in wheels. The car is in excellent unrestored condition but not perfect. id give it 8-10 but remember its 30 years old.

Interior.

The seats are in excellent condition. all the bolsters are nice and firm and have the correct shape and not saggy. the carpets are good as are the headlining and door cards. the car has the original radio which works as does the cassette. the dash top has a split in it as they all do. but the inside again passes for a low mileage car.

So overall you have a really nice capri. with £500 spent on paintwork you would have a show condition car. The car still has its original Ford exhaust system fitted with the small diameter tail pipes. one of the centre boxes has a rattle which I believe is a baffle. I have sourced a mint genuine full system for the car which will go with the car. or just the centre box if that's all you want as its all in good order.

So just to confirm. the car is showing 17k. I would say on the cars condition its genuine. most people who have seen the car agree but I have nothing to confirm this. if I did this would be easily a 20k+ car so please judge the car on its merits and condition. I have listed the car with no reserve. so please bid what you feel its worth. please only genuine bids and enquiries. a deposit of £200 will be required immediately at the end of the auction. If you want anymore info please ask but no silly questions or offers. these have rocketed in value. as have all Fords. so its a very good investment too.
