1969 Chevrolet Chevelle

Same owner since 1980! This was my first car. and now it is time for someone else to enjoy it.   This Chevelle SS 396 was one of the last to roll out of the Kansas City assembly plant on the 5th week of July 1969 and was sold new at Kelly Chevrolet in Greenwood. IN.   It has spent time in Indiana. New Mexico. Maryland. and Arizona.  

Features a non-matching numbers 396 big block with original components (this is not an original L78 car). original M20 4 speed transmission (VIN stamped on top). original 355 posi rear. F41 suspension. spiral shocks. five repro Goodyear Polyglas tires (F70-14) on the original SS wheels with four original trim rings and deep center caps. The exhaust sounds awesome and features stock exhaust manifolds and a Gardner Chambered Pipe exhaust system with original style hangers. resonators. and chrome tips. The black bench seat interior was restored using Legendary Interior products and features working factory tach and gauges. AM-FM radio. new Electro-Tech in-dash speaker. original Muncie Shifter (top to bottom. not just the handle). rear window defogger. aux lighting with map light mirror. Even the clock works and has the correct movement. NOT quartz movement! It also has a vacuum operated trunk release. which was a Chevy accessory. and the rare CE1 headlight washer system. which I disconnected as it is very messy! The power brake master cylinder is original to the car. and also features the '69 only power steering reservoir.  I recently installed a new dash bezel featuring the correct chrome highlights.

This Chevelle received a frame-on restoration in 1986 and has been carefully maintained since.   I was not a fan of the original Cortez Silver color. so I selected a color called Medium Pewter Poly. which is very close to Shadow Gray that was available in 1970.   The D96 stripes are painted on. as reproductions were not available in 1986.   Reproduction sheet metal was also not available. so the original sheet metal was left on the car and repaired as best as possible.   However. it has also been driven and enjoyed. so there are some chips. dents. blisters. and blemishes that should be expected on a car that is driven.   This Chevelle is not perfect. so do not expect perfection.   Engine. trans. rear. and all mechanicals have been rebuilt/replaced. The Holley 4346 was restored by a recognized carburetor authority. as was the transmission and the distributor. This Chevelle runs and drives great and the cooling system works well here in the Arizona heat.
 
Detailed with an eye on originality. this Chevelle receives lots of compliments and the occasional trophy.   It was not restored to today's standards and will not compete with the high dollar restorations of today. nbsp; but it is not priced like one.   It is mechanically sorted out and ready to proudly drive and enjoy. as I frequently drive it to various shows and cruises here in the Phoenix metro area.

I have no original paperwork on this Chevelle. and never found a build sheet in it.   I do have a reproduction window sticker that goes with the car.   Several years ago. I paid for a title search that goes back to 1976. and will also include it.
