Ford XY Fairmont IN Mint Condition

 This 1971 Vintage Burgundy/Saddle Trim  XY Fairmont with 63 000 miles is definitely a time traveller.   All original. right down to the windscreen and carpet.   It has had an outside repaint in the 80's but still retains its original paint in the boot. door jambs and engine bay.   Front seat belts have been replaced with correct looking replacements  and rear belts are the originals.   The seats. hood lining. sunvisors and door trims are the originals and the crash pad is original and does not have any cracks.   The dealer fitted under dash airconditioner is in working order and blows cold air.   Still retains original boot mat in good condition.

The brakes and suspension have been reconditioned back to original specs.   The brake booster has been reconditioned and has the correct markings.   The brake master cylinder is the original and has been reconditioned and stainless steel sleeved.   All flexible brake lines have been replaced.   The front calipers have been reconditioned and fitted with new bendix brake pads.   The front discs have been replaced  with correct DBA discs –as per originals and wheel bearings replaced.   Rear brake drums have been machined and fitted with new linings.   The rear brake slave cylinders have been replaced also.   The whole brake system has been flushed and filled with silicon brake fluid.   The original clutch master cylinder has been reconditioned and stainless steel sleeved and so has the slave cylinder.   The clutch system has been flushed and re-filled with silicon brake fluid.

All shock absorbers have replaced with new period correct Monroe shock absorbers.   Front and rear springs have been replaced with king springs (35mm lower).   The original springs have been kept and will be supplied.   All bushes front and rear have been replaced with rubber items where possible.   Front lower suspension arms were replaced with correct aftermarket items.   The front upper suspension arms were reconditioned.  

The engine is the original matching numbers 6 cylinder – still has the yellow paint dab on the rocker cover.   The water pump and harmonic balancer has been replaced.    The spark plugs and leads have been replaced.   The distributor has had a new cap fitted and the points have been replaced with Pertronix iginitor II.   The coil has been replaced also.   A new exhaust system was fitted – and as with all other repairs it was done to factory spec.

The radiator has been flushed.   The heater box was also removed at the same time and heater core flushed and pressure tested.   Heater box has been cleaned out. foam replaced. heater tap replaced and new correct heater hoses fitted.  

The gearbox – 3 speed column manual is in excellent condition as are the linkages and bushes.   The diff is also in excellent condition – oil has been changed and new rear cover gasket fitted.

All electrics work and a new indicator switch assembly has been fitted.

The body is in excellent condition with no rust and no accident damage – any inspection welcome.  

QC paint dabs can still be found throughout the vehicle including an “S” on the radiator support panel indicating saddle trim.

The GS stripe. GS steering wheel and GS Hub Caps (new 205 tyres) have been added for visual enhancement and are included with sale.   The original steering wheel and the original wheels/hub caps are also included in the sale.   The original log books are included with the sale.
