BOND EQUIPE WHITE

 Bond Equipe Mark II. 2 Litre Convertible.

These cars are becoming fairly rare now.

The 2 Litre MK II was the last incarnation of the Bond Equipe.

The car is based on the chassis and running gear of a MK II Triumph Vitesse with a fibreglass bonnet and rear tub. the windscreen surround and door skins being modified to produce a very different looking car to the Vitesse.

Of the 841 Mk II Cars built there is no record of how many were Coupes or Convertibles. it is estimated that about half were Convertibles. hence the rarity. they are little known nowadays but this car sparks interest and discussion whever we go.

Production run was between 1968 and 1970. this car being built and registered in 1969.

Bearing in mind this is a car which is 47 years old now. it is in very good condition for it's age. Car came with a good history file which shows it was subject to a body off restoration in the 80's and suggests limited. mainly dry. use since then.

As the Bond is based on the Vitesse. mechanical and running gear parts are widely and easily available through a number of well known specialist. classics suppliers. Upkeep is easy and the fibreglass body eliminates the usual rust problems.

Good bits:

Solid chassis. painted and stone chip protected.

All suspension and steering poly bushed within the last two years.

New. rebuilt engine fitted last year by Jigsaw including unleaded head. uprated oil pump. twin SUs. spin on filter conversion. Currently less than 500 miles since fitted.

Uprated HUCO 133010 low pressure. high volume fuel pump. engine bay mounted.

Kenlow electric fan.

Bodywork and paint is in very good condition.

Interior looks original though I can't be certain.

Moto Lita wood rim steering wheel.

Just MOTd to July 2017.

New remote brake servo fitted July 2016.

Good hood and frame. I have been caught out once in a rain storm and there were no leaks at motorway speeds.

Carpet set is in good condition. I think it hadn't been long fitted when I got the car.

New. recon steering rack fitted at same time as engine. again by Jigsaw.

New steering column bushes also fitted at same time.

Rotoflex drive shafts replaced by Canley conversion to CV joint driveshafts 2015. No worries about perished donuts letting go.

"Alley Cat" Minilight style alloys fitted.

Manual transmission. 4 speed box with overdrive. operating correctly.

Car comes with quite a few spares. including the original rotoflex driveshafts so if desired can be returned to completely original spec.

I also have a spare windscreen which will go with the car. These are very rare nowadays so always handy to have a replacement.


Not so good bits:

Centre console is starting to show it's age and could do with re-covering at some point.

Hood cover is possibly original and really could do with replacing. Not sure if standard Vitesse cover fits but assume so.

Screen rubber is starting to show signs of needing replacement. having said that. it was in this condition when I got the car and hasn't been a problem.

A few marks to the paintwork in places but nothing you wouldn't expect on a car of this age which is still used and not just stored.

Some oxidisation on the wheels. but again nothing serious.




All in all a fairly rare vehicle which is still used. not in concourse condition but still very good for it's age. easy to maintain and parts are easily available.
