1968 Mercury Cougar Standard for sale

I am selling my 1968 Mercury Cougar. It is the standard cougar and not the XR7. It came factory with the 302 4 barrel motor (one year only and same engine in the Shelby GT350's) and a 4 speed wide ratio four speed transmission. The engine was completely rebuilt about 4000 miles ago and runs excellent. I have a complete list of all components in the engine. New clutch. throwout bearing and pressure plate with resurfaced flywheel and new ring gear. The differential is an 8 inch that was completely rebuilt around 500 miles ago and has 3. 50:1 gears. It also came factory with power steering and air conditioning. The evaporator in the heater/ac box is new and ready to be hooked up under the hood. but none of the underhood stuff is there. Power steering components are new (pump. hoses. valve) This is a pretty loaded small block car. see attached marti report. One of 536 with the 302 4v and 4 speed manual. and one of 136 with blue paint and parchment decore interior. Pull the deluxe Marti report and I would bet this is a one of one car!
The interior is the deluxe decore interior in parchment with blue appointments (carpet and dashpad). This cougar also has a factory console. The headliner. carpet and floormats are new along with the vinyl top. The radio is a custom autosound am/fm with aux input for an ipod or whatever. Speakers are infinity 6x9 Kappas rear and a stereo 5x8 in the dash. Seats are 1967 Mustang convertible original bucket seats (never recovered OEM) (worth $700 alone) and the rear seat is original to this vehicle. Everything works inside. the lights. the heater and all instruments. There is an Autometer tachometer in the dash face where the clock could go if so optioned. It is hidden so that it does not detract from the clean interior.
The exterior was professionally redone about 5 years ago at an expense of $18. 00. The body was pretty solid to start out with. but all rust was cut out and repaired with new metal welded in. Then it was straightened and primed. blocked and painted the original Wellington Blue color with PPG paint. The undercarriage was completely cleaned and repainted along with the engine compartment and engine. The interior was also repainted including. floors and dash. I have a lot of pictures of the restoration that are included with the sale on a cd for the computer. This vehicle is rust free and in excellent condition in and out. I cannot stress enough what great condition this vehicle is in and how nice it is in out and underneath. The pictures make it look nice. but it is so much nicer in person! If you are interested you must see it in person to appreciate this great classic vehicle.

I am serious about selling this vehicle. have a clear title and am ready to help load it and ship it off with a new owner.  Please do not bid if you do not intend to buy this vehicle. if you do not have the funds available at the time you bid. or do not have permission from your wife. etc.  I do not want to relist this due to a non paying buyer.  I will charge you the listing fees if you do bid and do not buy this vehicle. Please ask any questions before bidding. I would be happy to send pics of something for you or answer any questions you may have.  NO PAYPAL on this item except the deposit when you win the auction.  Cash in hand is best upon pickup of the vehicle.

I have had a number of questions about the air conditioning on this Cougar.  This is a factory air conditioned car. however when I purchased it. it had none of the a/c stuff with it except the heat/ac box.  I purchased an evaporator for it and had it tested to ensure it was good.  It was installed in the heater/ac box when that system was installed in the vehicle.  I also have two hoses that are a/c hoses that will go with the vehicle.  I do NOT have any brackets. compressor. condenser. drier or the shorter hose.  These will need to be purchased by the new owner and installed.  The Sanden conversion kit is $500 and the parts to hook up the under hood factory correct will cost no more than $1000.  I was not sure if someone would want it original or convert to a Sanden style compressor.  The hard part of installing the evaporator in the box is done and ready to hook up under the hood.  Included with the sale is the oem motorcraft carburetor. never installed after it was rebuilt.  It ran so good with the edelbrock I did not see any reason to put it on.  Also reserve is set at $14. 00 and I will not take less than that.  This is one of the nicest Cougars I have seen go through Ebay in years.  The inside. outside and undercarriage are all restored and even the headlights and taillights are restored as per original.  I cannot stress enough what a nice clean Cougar this is and that you would be hard pressed to find one nicer!
