I have decided to sell my 1965 Marcos 1800GT FiA race car project. ***(reason) too many other projects.
Has original factory brass Marcos chassis plate and English V5C
This is a serious project. This was the first Marcos of the series to use the 'live' rear axle off the Lotus Cortina. The actual car was stolen in 1990and during a 'joy ride' crashed and burned to the ground in the states. I decided to build a new car using the following components as a starting base.
1) Marcos GT1800 identity  for 40?6L including original brass chassis plate 2) English V5C for registration M?U 616D Including the 1960's stamped licence ‘black' plate 3) Used Lightweight competition tub. by Royson in Sweden (Has race history) 4) Lotus Cortina GT rear axle/ brakes (complete) 5) Running Volvo B18 engine 1965 with gearbox (complete unit) #52-69504 ( needs to be built into a legal FiA competition engine) 6 ) Factory MARCOS nose badge 7) ‘Adams' side badges (original) 8) 40?6 Marcos build sheet with factory hand typed spec sheet from Marcos Heritage 9) File full of documents including/ original photos. nbsp; 2 original 1965 & 1966  Marcos Brochures 10) 4 new 'Minilite' mag wheels (Made in Italy) **All the assistance you need for free to build this into a proper FiA race car.
Parts needed are available from 'Royson Marcos' in Sweden or through 'Marcos Heritage' in EnglandI will be happy to help and make introduction to both companies.
Personally. I was going to ship the package to Royson in Sweden for him to build a 'roller' car for me and then I would finish it off. He has a opening in November to start the build. He can built it as a basic rolling chassis or turn key full spec. FiA racer. These are simple cars to build and mechanical parts are right off the shelf. The car can be built as a RHD (Right Hand Drive) or LHD (Left Hand Drive) as the wooden chassis was built that way originally.
If your reading this you will know the rarity and value. my chassis was one of only produced 99 to meet the FiA regulations at the time for a 'production based car'http://www. marcosjem. co. uk/history. html
**If you are serious. please send me your contact details. and I will call you to discuss the project in detail. Send to: zagato@europe. com
Best price today is £9. 50. (that's the price alone of a new chassis)What is the value of a Marcos GT1800 #40?6 registration number. nd English  V5C?   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------Marcos 1800 GT

In 1964 the glass fibre-bodied Marcos 1800 GT was introduced. using the cast-iron four-cylinder Volvo 1778 cc B18 unit with overdrive gearbox and De Dion rear axle. It was a sensation when first shown at the 1964 Racing Car Show. This was to be the design that would become familiar to sports car enthusiasts for more than 30 years. even though the original plywood chassis would later be replaced by a steel chassis and the futuristic scalloped dashboard also vanished after a few years. The plywood chassis was glued together from 386 separate pieces and was not only light and strong. but also required a minimum up front investment to construct. The extremely low Marcos required a nearly supine driving position and fixed seats. mounted lower than the floor of the car. In return. the entire pedal set could be moved fore and aft with a knob on the dashboard. If this proved not to be enough Marcos also offered optional booster pillows. This setup. with the fixed seats. remained until the end of Marcos production in late 2007. The original Marcos 1800 had a two-spoke steering wheel and a novel dash with a prominent center console. a rather expensive design. The entire nose portion. of a long and tapered design. was hinged at the front and was held down by latches behind the front wheel wells.

The stock Volvo engine has 96 hp (72 kW). enough for a 116 mph (187 km/h) top speed and a 0-60 mph time of 8. 2 seconds. Some sources claim 195 bhp. built to FiA competition specs.  Very successful in competition. the rather expensive 1800 GT sold very slowly. and after the first few cars the de Dion rear suspension was replaced by a live Lotus Cortina axle.

The price was dropped from ₤1500 to ₤1340. but it was not enough to make the car profitable. Cars were stockpiling in 1966. and after 106 (or 99) had been built. the 1800 was replaced by the Ford-engine 1500.

The 1800 is the only Marcos that is eligible for historic racing and as such is considerably more valuable today than later models.
