Hello and thanks for looking at our 1948 Chevy series one (or Advance Design) panel van. This one has been slightly rodded and has a lovely 350 V8 and TH350 auto trans. which runs and drives absolutely superb and will quite willingly shred the tyres if you want to. It sounds great through the twin exhaust and is just great to drive. It doesn't have power steering so the feel is much better. It has a Mustang2 front crossmember welded in place giving power disc brakes and coil springs on the front. Rear is standard leaf springs with lowering blocks on a 10 bolt Chevy axle.

It has aftermarket gauges which all work. but part of the speedo needle is broken off. but it's easy to see what speed you are doing so not an issue really. The seats are like new. not sure what they came out of. Van has near new door and window seals all round. You may notice the passenger front door has a cracked glass. but I have a new one here ready to fit. I also have new inside door panels ready to fit. It has electric wipers that work. The gearbox inhibitor switch has been by-passed so you need to be sure you are in park when starting!!

The van was built a few years ago so it is proven. but the paint has suffered the California sun with a lot of laquer peeling off. A few small dings have been attended to and put in grey primer as seen. I could paint it. but you may want to change the colour. so I'll sell it as it is. You might not like the rear lights set into the doors anyway. so and ideal opportunity to replace them with something better and weld the holes up when it comes time to do a paint job. Inside rear is basic and could do with a bit of trimming to your own taste.

So there you have it. a very well built. quite rare rodded series one van with all the hard work done and with room for you to make your own mark on it. or just drive it as it is. The reg number is 410 YUS and the plates are now on it and I'm driving it daily and will do so until sold.

I am open to sensible offers. please bear in mind this isn't a  big project and a lot of money has gone into this in the States. and it's been shipped here and all duties paid. so no daft offers please. and I'd rather deal on straight cash than take a trade in. No swaps whatsoever and no near swaps. In fact any trade in would have to be very cheap as I would just have to sell it on anyway. Thanks for taking the time to read and please see below for a list of other trucks and vans available which I can list here for you if interested.

Although we are based in Central Scotland. please do not let this be an issue for you as I pride myself on my descriptions and must add that on my other accounts and via magazines. I have never ever failed to sell a car to the first person who travels to see it! If you know what you are looking for. and do decide to come and see. I can assure you the car will be as described here. There is no point in me telling lies about a car. as. quite simply. when you come and see it. you will not buy it if it's not as described. so. a big waste of time for me and a waste of time and money for you. I have no wish to deceive any potential buyer. I've been on the receiving end of that in the past. travelling many hundreds of miles to see something very much different from what was described to me. I aim to change that as a business seller. I'd rather gain a new friend and not sell you a car than sell you something and make a new enemy!! I am an enthusiast first and business man second.

If you want to come and look. I can pick you up at Edinburgh Airport. or Linlithgow or Falkirk rail stations and return you after your visit. I can arrange delivery for you at your cost. London area is about £360 incl VAT as an example.

Sorry to do this folks. but I must add a note here for people who may not think some things through properly. I cannot and will not take a swap on anything. To explain. you want to swap me something. therefore yours is available for sale here in the UK. Why would I go to the bother of buying a vehicle unseen in the USA. take the chance that the seller may rip me off. spend money shipping it. unload the container. pay all the duties. VAT. etc. then simply swap it for something I could have bought here without going to all that bother. not to mention my money being tied up for at least three months awaiting the arrival. This is a business. you go to work to earn your wages so you can eat. etc. I sell imports to do the same. Swaps do not put food on the table. I hope all reading understand where I'm coming from with this. I keep my prices tight so can't pay over the odds for a trade in either. remember I'm the dealer. I can't drop my price to break even then pay you retail for a trade in. no vehicle sales business will ever do that. it's financial suicide. If you want to give me a trade in. I will talk to you. BUT. my price is firm in that case and your trade must be of a cost that I can make something on it too. I also wont take a trade of something I can't sell. 'cause if you've been trying to sell it and can't. then I can't either. simple really. I prefer to deal on a straight sale basis. I write this as I am getting fed up with many e-mail and phone conversations. followed by sending lots of pics. etc to interested parties. only to find that after a few days of time wasting. all they really want to do is swap me for something of lower value or something they have had no luck trying to sell. Don't get me wrong. if after a few days of talks and pics. you decide my vehicle isn't for you. that's no problem. that's not time wasting (as long as you didn't tell me it was definitely for you then change your mind!). Many thanks for reading and understanding.
