Austin 10/4 Cambridge July 1939
Highly original car with a low mileage engine with the original upholstery. door cards and running boards. new head lining and the desirable Pytchley sunshine roof and folding front seats. It has its original Gloucester registration number and its original number plates from new.  It has had several caring owners over the past 20+ years who have lavished attention on the car.  Itis therefore in very nice condition.
DDF 335 was registered on 7th July 1939 in Gloucester and delivered new to Mr Malcolm Chambers in Seamer near Scarborough.  He did not get much use out of the car before it was laid up for the duration of the War. not returning to the road until 1945.  It is believed that Mr Chambers died in the early 1970's and the car remained in dry storage until the early 1990's.  It is understoodthat the car was purchased from Mr Chambers estate. needing work after all the years of inactivity.  It ended up garaged for the next 20 years.  In 1993 an MOT was issued in Scarborough showingthe car had only done 29100 miles.
In 1994 Mr Jennings bought the car and used it for local shows around the Stockport area.  After three years he sold it to Martin Howey Classics in Thirsk.  The records seem to suggest the car wassold on eBay in 2004 and by 2007 DDF 335 was with renowned dealer Available Austins of Arley. Coventry.  By now it had only 30978 miles on the clock.  A letter on file from Available Austins recordsthat the car was a non runner when purchased due to its valves being burnt out (this most likely due to long storage and rust in the valve seats).  Available Austins replaced the engine with a reconditioned unit. replaced the clutch and rebuilt the brakes and steering and undertook other minor work for the MOT.  This work cost over £3000.  They sold the car to Mr Sinfield of Swadlincote who5 years later returned to trade it in against another Austin having put very little mileage on the car (MOT shows 31720).  The car was then sold to Mr Lamb in Coalville. Leicestershire who fitted a new wiring loom.  Mr Lamb also fitted new rear lights and flashers and an under bonnet isolator switch for security.   He used the car for local runs and shows before selling it in 2014 to Ashtead ClassicCars of Balsall Common Warwickshire from where I purchased the car at 32262 miles on 6th August 2014.
In my ownership I have had both front wings stripped and repainted as they were showing crazing but no rust. I have also replaced the original carpets.  The wheels have had the tyres removed and beenshot blasted and powder coated in black with two new tyres and tubes from Vintage Tyres.
In June this year DDF 335 made a trip from Pershore. Worcestershire to Port Sunlight on The Wirral to attend the annual Austin Counties Car Club Rally.  It made the 300 mile plus journey without missinga beat and many club members commented on how well the car ran and how silent running the engine was.  It won first prize in the Austin 10 class.  The car has now only covered 33427 miles.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my period of ownership and DDF 335 is only for sale due to fulfilling an ambition to own an earlier vintage Austin. which I have now purchased.
