Ford Cortina Mk1 1965 1500 Super

Welcome to the auction for my Mk1 Cortina 1500 SuperThe car is fitted with the later 1600cc crossflow 711m engine and gearbox from the Mk2.  The engine starts on the button and runs very well. I have recently replaced the front struts with NOS leda suspension struts. fitted new top mounts and bearings. fitted new wheel bearings. new brake pads and front hoses. At the same time new ball joints and track rod ends were fitted. A new clutch and core plugs were also fitted this year. There are no signs of rust on the car at all. not even any little blisters. The chassis is solid and requires no welding. The only welding i can see on the car is the very front suspension rails. This has been done to a good standard. as has the plates around the top mounts. The paint was refreshed approx 2 years ago and still looks good. The interior of the car is not perfect. my plan was to renew the door cards at some point. Seats are generally good. There is some fading and a little tear on the top of the front bench seat. Mechanically the car is great. however the gearbox in 2nd and 3rd gear is abit noisy. It holds gears fine and gears are easily selected. its just abit noisy. Its fine to use as is but would be ideal to have the box rebuilt. The engine has been partially dressed with chrome and stainless steel bits. Car was MOT ed in January and passed with no advisories. I have had the car for a while but have only recently registered it in the UK. Its originally from Ireland (hence the plate) Its perfectly legal to drive it on the original Irish log book but I decided to get a V5 for it earlier this year. I had the option at the time to have the car issued with a UK period number plate. I didnt but wish i had. This can easily be done by contacting DVLA and filling out forms etc. In order to get a V5 the car was verified by the MK1 club and I have the relevant correspondent for this etc. To summaries this is a great solid example that is piratically there. it would benefit form the gearbox being rebuilt and a few improvements to the interior. The car has had work done on it in the past. all to a high standard. The car really looks good and is eye catching. Viewing not a problem but no driving on the road unless you have proof of insurance. I have a long drive and some yard space or I can drive you for a test drive on the road.
