History of this car

This is the ultimate version of the DS. built between August 1972 to April 1975. with the biggest 2347cc engine which. with the benefit of electronic fuel injection. produces 141hp and a190kph top speed.

Our chassis 02FG5131 is a very late car which left the Quai de Javel plant in 1974 and was supplied new in Paris.

Our car found its way into Italy and underwent a no expense spared nut and bolt type restoration carried out by Citroen specialists in Verona. This in depth restoration. photo documented. was carried out in 2013 since when only running-in miles have been covered.

The total mileage recorded is 66572 klms (40. 00 miles). which is believed (but unwarranted) genuine from new given the honest sound condition of the car prior to the works being conducted.

We imported the car to the UK recently. sourcing it for its outstanding condition.

Body

Our car has had a rotisserie type restoration and has been bare metal repainted in Blue Delta (code AC640). The end result is quite magnificent. with arrow straight sides. perfect panel fit. no orange peel and a deep and consistent shine throughout; the paint finish is likely to be better than when new.

All the rare and damage prone Pallas trim is present and in excellent condition. The glass is undamaged. all rubber seals are new and the bumpers are dent free. All light lenses are new old stock replacements and even the fixing screws are new.

The wheels have been blasted and repainted in the original grey (code RAL 7044).

New fasteners have been used throughout and all catches and so on have been replated.

Chassis wise the car presents as good as on top; factory fresh.

Mechanics

This D has had every component replaced or refreshed as required with all new perishables such as hoses and seals. The hydraulic system has been overhauled with new piping. spheres. accumulator etc. and achieves ride height in record quick time!

The engine is whisper quiet having been fully overhauled. and the semi-auto gearbox engages gear imperceptibly

There are no leaks of any kind. the tyres are all fresh and the braking system all new.

The under bonnet is beautifully detailed with factory finishes throughout. all new fasteners have again been used and a full compliment of tools accompany the car. down to the spare LHM can.

New MOT with no advisories.

Interior

This has been replaced with all new headlining. seats restuffed and covered in blue jersey. new carpets and underlay. The dashboard is mint original.

A supremely comfortable place to sit!

In unmarked condition. retrimmed throughout.

Summary

A comprehensively restored full fat D in superb colours. The car presents and drives like a 6 month old example. and is suitable for concours or daily use. The cost to replicate this restoration would far exceed the asking price suggested. so this car is real value.
