CALCUTTA RUSSE EXTERIOR
TAN INTERIOR
Up for sale is an excellent example of an original 1968 AMC AMX painted Calcutta Russe (Burgandy) with a tan interior. It has the 390 CID V8. automatic transmission and the Go Pak option. The original engine. transmission and rear end have 57. 68 original miles. The engine is original including the original carbuerator. intake manifold. alternator. power steering pump. starter and radiator. Rear end is a 3. 54 Sure Grip.
The exterior is in excellent condition retaining all its original body panels. doors. fenders. hood and trunk. The exterior was stripped. two quarter size rust holes on rear quarters cut out and new metal installed. epoxy primered. block sanded. nbsp;two coats of Diamont base applied and wet sanded and three coats of clear applied and wet sanded. White stripes painted prior to clear coats. The exterior chrome and brite work are all original and in good condition. The bumpers are starting to show their 45 years.
The interior is in excellent condition retaining its original dash. guages. radio. console. seat frames. door panels. arm rests and brite work. The seat foam and covers have been replaced. It has a new headliner. carpeting. seat belts. nbsp;and weather stripping. All gauges. lights and signals function properly.
The underside of the car is all original retaining the original floor boards. trunk pan. frame rails. core support. firewall. wheel wells and fuel tank. The original undercoating is still present around the wheel wells and inside the trunk. The engine compartment. trunk and under sides of the hood and trunk retain their original paint.
The car currently has an original set of five spoke cragar wheels with BF Goodrich 215/70/15 tires on the front and 235/70/15 tires on the back. The original set of factory 14" five spoke wheels with tires come with the car. The original spare is still in the trunk.
Overall. the car is a great example of an original unmolested 1968 AMC AMX. 390 Go Pak car that has been well cared for it's entire life. It is extremely difficult to find a 45 year old muscle car that retains so much of its original factory installed components.
