The 997 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model
manufactured between 2004 and 2012 with the GT3 model debuting in
Geneva in 2006. Like previous GT3 models. it is a way for Porsche
to homologate aerodynamic features for racing as well as an entry
opportunity for customer racing. The engine has the same
displacement as the Turbo and uses a new variable intake system.
The GT3 body includes a special front bumper which increases
cooling for the front-mounted radiators as well as a split spoiler
at the rear. The GT3 also includes a special rear bumper and centre
tailpipes designed to draw heat away from the engine. The special
RS model was more focused on track-orientated driving (although the
car is still road-legal). The package also included a full rollcage
and carbon fibre seats to add to that race-car-for-the-road feel.
The ratios on the six-speed transmission are more aggressive
allowing the GT3 RS to reach 60mph in four seconds and 100mph in
9. 2 seconds with an ungoverned top speed of 190mph. At 7. 00 revs. br/>the noise is like nothing else. The 3. 6-litre flat six-engine in
the GT3 piles on the revs with unerring speed. filling the cabin
with a gloriously rousing mechanical timbre as it does so. The
searing pace it delivers is enough to confirm that all is good with
the GT3 badge when placed on the back of the 997. Quantifiably a
far superior car to the one it replaced. the 997 GT3 is a
staggeringly capable and an exceedingly rapid sports car. There are
911s and then there is the 911 GT3.

This is a genuine GT3 RS and was first registered on 1st March
2007. The fastidious vendor is a knowledgeable Porsche enthusiast
and. as such. the car presents in immaculate condition. However. it
must be pointed out that this car was the subject of a Category C
insurance claim early in its life which is recorded with HPI. We
are advised the car was repaired by Ramus Porsche and the car was
subsequently inspected and given a clean bill of health. The
servicing of this outstanding example has been carried out by OPC
in Guildford with everything documented accordingly. A sequential
gearshift system has been fitted with a digital display on the
dashboard and was fitted by Oakley designs. We are advised by the
vendor that this greatly enhances the drivability of HJ07 NKD and
makes the car much more 'user friendly'. This GT3 RS could be
acurately described as 'a wolf in sheep's clothing' being equipped. br/>as it is. with climate control. CD player and Xenon
headlamps-however. the fitment of a lap timer and harness-style
seat belts are a gentle reminder of what this car is built for.
Without doubt this magnificent piece of engineering is versatile to
the extreme. capable of delivering you to your favourite restaurant
or propelling you around a race circuit with eye-watering
efficiency.
