Take a close look at this rare '62 Olds Jetfire with 72. 85 miles. I saved this unique vehicle from being scrapped and then found out about its origin. In 1962 GM made a limited number of Jetfires which included an aluminum block V8 with a Fluid-Injected Turbocharger; the Turbo-Rocket was born. The car generated 215 HP with a 10. 25-1 compression ratio with Performance tailored pistons. connecting rods and main bearings. Standard equipment included bucket seats. console with turbo boost gauge. nbsp;dual exhaust and a 3. 36-1 rear axle ratio. This car also has the optional 4 speed Hydramatic transmission. power steering and power brakes.

Unfortunately. most owners were not aware of the maintenance required in keeping the fluid injection system in peak operating order. As a result. GM offered to retrofit these models with a standard 4 barrel carb and manifold thereby eliminating costly repairs and dissatisfied customers.  This car has been running on the "new" set up for the past 50 years and will continue to do so effortlessly. The good news is that all of the original Turbo components are still with the car and are included in the sale. The previous owner of 20+ years had stored the Turbo. manifold and Turbo air cleaner in the basement not knowing what they were used for. The boost gauge was swapped out for a tach and is not part of the sale.

Within the past month I had the following done; new oil pump. oil change. fresh gas. nbsp;new battery. nbsp;rebuilt the entire brake system. dropped and cleaned out the gas tank and cleaned the fuel lines. The car now runs and drives fine. The car needs some body work; the drivers side door corner has some rust as does the trunk pan. The passenger rear lower quarter panel and valance needs some help as shown in the photos.  Overall the body and frame are straight with only surface rust evident. The drivers seat needs to be covered and the car needs a general "good" cleaning.

The paint is interesting; call it Patina and the price goes up. It should be sandblasted and painted or just clear coat the car and call it a Rat Rod. All of the glass is in place and all of the stainless. including the dual spears on the hood. nbsp;is in VERY good condition.

My previous listing failed to meet the reserve so I have decided to start the bidding at $3000 and let it go to the highest bidder. Feel free to contact me at 917-626-0233 with any questions or for an appointment to see the car.

Check out the NY Times article. www. nytimes. com. nbsp;that was printed on Friday. 12/19.   Very informative. this car and the Turbo technology was way ahead its time.

I just cleaned the passenger side rear quarter with mild detergent. The stainless looks great. Check out the new photo that I posted. 12/24/14
