1966 Ford Mustang 289 ci auto restored signalflare red

1966 FORD MUSTANG factory 289c. i.  (C-code). C-4 Automatic. restored. very original. factory buck tag on inner fender.  factory Signalflare Red paint (5-code) and new black vinyl interior (D6-code). build date of December 21. 1965.   The Mustang was built at the Metuchen. NJ plant.  The VIN # is stamped on the top of the inner fender and the original factory VIN tag is still on the driver's door.   The odometer mileage is 73. 90 and may be original. but is not documented

I just finished a light restoration on this awesome 289 Mustang.   I just completed the entire show condition engine bay. professionally wet sanded and buffed the paint. replaced some suspension parts. interior work. brake work. including many new exterior items and also checked the car over from front to back. This is one of the best Mustangs you'll find in this price range!!!

This is a super nice. original sheet metal Mustang with only some small sheet metal work done on the very lower edges of the quarters and the front foot area of the passenger side floor board.  The Mustang was in Florida until 1988. then came to PA.   The body is extremely nice and is super clean from top to bottom.  This is your opportunity to own a very nice original restoration low mileage 1966 Mustang 289 that is ready to show. drive and turn heads!

PAINT & BODY

The Mustangs body panels are very straight. has an excellent body; the seams and gaps are also very nice!  The super high-gloss deep shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1500 and 2000 grit paper to achieve a high caliber ultra finish. This long process alone took over 40 hours and the finish shows it!  The single stage paint was done about 10 years ago. but looks like it was done yesterday!  There are a few very small minor imperfections. There is a paint chip the size of a dime on the very edge of the driver's door seam near the door hinge area and on the lower forward corner of the driver's side door appears to be a paint run (shown in the photos).  There are a few very small paint chips that where brush touched and look fine.   I am very critical on paint and am glad to go over the entire car with you.  PLEASE CALL ME AT 412-496-1439 FOR EXACT DETAILS!  The bottom rocker panels are in excellent shape. very clean and not full of bondo. LOOK at the underside photos closely and you'll see the factory date coded number stampings on the bottoms of the rockers; you will also notice that the factory drains in the rockers and lower quarters are in excellent condition.   It is very rare to still see these factory markings and indicated how nice of a body this Mustang has!!!  The inner fenders and frame are also original and are super clean! The VIN# is also stamped on the driver side inner fender.   Since being restored the Mustang has only been driven in nice weather and has low mileage.  

GLASS. CHROME AND TRIM

The glass is in very good condition. The front windshield appears to be original and only has a few wiper marks; nice for factory glass.   The original side and rear glass is very nice. with only a few very small minor scratches.   The bumpers are in excellent new condition. as are the door handles and mirrors.   The trim is clean and was polished for optimum shine.   The lower rocker panel chrome moldings are new.    

INTERIOR

The interior was restored a few years ago with new carpet. headliner. door panels. seat covers. dash pad and newer correct replacement radio.   All gauges work and operate correctly.   All lighting works as should including the high/low beams. interior lights. tail lights. parking lights. turn signals. four-way flashers and glove box light.   The very expensive modern digital style AM/FM Mustang factory radio sounds great.   The E-brake. defrosters. heater. fan and horn all work as should.   The dash bezel. arm rest pad kit. door strikers. rear view mirror and trunk divider were all replaced new.    

DRIVE TRAIN

The strong running 289c. i. makes excellent power. runs/drives great and starts with ease.   It is topped off with a Edelbrock 4bbl intake and a Holley 600cfm 4-barrel.   I believe the entire drive-train is numbers matching to the car.   The C-4 auto transmission shifts beautifully through all gears.  The motor and transmission were freshened up when painted about 10 years ago by the previous owner.   I was told the heads were redone and the top end was kept very close to factory specs.  The Mustang has the factory 2. 80:1 center section.   This excellent drive train combo runs and drives awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving.  The entire engine bay was restored and is new from top to bottom and looks fantastic!  The brakes are the factory manual drum with the dual master cylinder upgrade kit.  The Ford wheels are 14” with correct Mustang centers and the tires are 225/60-14”.   The tires are in good used condition with about 50% tread life. Please see items below that were replaced new.

You won't be disappointed with this super nice original 1966 Mustang.   It's a very sharp looking car. in beautiful condition and ready to drive and enjoy.
