Mercedes-Benz : 400-Series 420 SEL

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction.   My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers.   Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase.   I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives.   Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic.   Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability.   Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid.   An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.

Up for a NO RESERVE auction is an exceptional Mercedes Benz 420SEL.   The W126 Chassis was the flagship of the Mercedes Benz family at the time and boasted the absolute best in technology. safety and quality available.   I would rate the exterior of this 1987 420SEL to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage.   As you can see. this is a good looking sedan.   It is finished in a medium gray with light gray two tone exterior over a matching light gray interior.   The body lines are straight and true.   The hood. doors and trunk all open and close easily.   As with any older vehicle. please expect to find a few imperfections commensurate with age and mileage.   The chrome exterior trim shows well all around and shines like a mirror.   All of the glass and lenses are intact.   The body cladding is all intact. too.   The finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass.   The original alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in a proper set of Michelins with average tread all around.   The only noteworthy fault I could find on the exterior is that the power antenna does not come up.   Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully to see how exceptional this Mercedes Benz is.   Personally. I believe that Mercedes Benz makes the best cars on the road. period.   This Merc is a perfect example of what happens when a well made car is used sparingly and loved properly.   This 420SEL comes from a time when a Mercedes Benz was built to a standard. not a price. and it shows in the quality workmanship throughout this car.

I would rate the interior of this Mercedes to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage.   Pride in ownership shows throughout every inch of this automobile.   As you open the door. you are greeted by a graciously appointed and well kept interior.   The door cards are clean and show well.   The carpets look nearly new throughout the cabin.   A full set of Mercedes Benz floor mats are included.   The dash and headliner are clean.   The wood veneers show well throughout the interior which suggests that this Mercedes probably spent most of her life in a garage.   The leather seats are practically flawless and are still supple.   The power windows (yes. all of them). power mirror. power sunroof and both power seats work properly.   The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly.   The heater keeps the interior warm on cool days.   I can't tell if the air conditioner is being effective due to the ambient temperature being in the low 40's.   The original Becker radio powers up and still works properly.   You'll have the get the aforementioned antenna repaired for proper reception from the radio. though.   The trunk is spacious. clean and houses the original spare and tools.   Additionally. the original owners books are still present. including the service booklet that shows this 420SEL being serviced by the same Mercedes Benz dealer throughout its whole life.   Not a single service stamp is missing.   Again. pride in ownership shows throughout every inch of this automobile.

Mechanically. this Merc appears to be in good running and driving condition.   The 4. 2L V8 starts easily and runs smoothly.   I did not see any leaks and the engine does not smoke.   In fact. you could probably eat out the the engine compartment.   Her road manners are excellent.   The suspension feels tight and well sorted.   The brakes and steering feel good. too.   The engine runs smoothly and makes good power.   She keeps excellent oil pressure and perfect temperature at all times.   There have been no idiot lights on.   The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly.   Out on the highway. she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints.   If you've been looking for that "needle in a haystack" classic Mercedes. this one deserves your careful consideration.   She comes as a fresh NEW CAR TRADE and has a current PA safety and emissions inspection good through the end of June. 2015.   Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.

There is additional risk in purchasing a vehicle this way versus buying a vehicle from a retail dealership that has been fully serviced and has a warranty. You will pay considerably less this way. but understand our vehicles are sold AS-IS and do not carry any kind of warranty.

Vehicles ten model years old and older are exempt from odometer disclosure. this is a federal law.   Mileage may be listed as "exempt" or "TMU" on titles for vehicles older than ten model years old.   Should we have reason to believe that mileage listed for a vehicle is inaccurate. this will be disclosed within the written description provided for the vehicle regardless of the odometer status listed on the title.

Winning Bidders:

Winning bidders are required to contact us via eBay Message within 48 hours of auction close and make arrangements for payment and vehicle pick-up. Please do not leave a voicemail on the office phone.

Full payment is due within 7 day of the auction's end. The prefferred method is to bring cash in person to complete the sale. If you are unable to bring cash in person within seven days or will be having the vehicle shipped. we also accept Certified Checks. USPS Postal Money Orders. and wire transfer.

PayPal is not an accepted payment method. This includes Bill Me Later.

We cannot accept credit cards or personal checks.

Vehicles that are not picked up within 14 days of auction's end will be charged a $10/day storage fee. unless other arrangments are made.

Non-paying Bidders:

We take great pride in our work and are very serious about what we do. Likewise. we expect the people who bid on our auctions to be serious about honoring their bid. If you are the successful bidder for any of our auctions and do not pay for your vehicle within the specified time. an Unpiad Item case willbe opend with eBay. This can severely restirct yur ability to purchse from all eBay sellers. You will be charged a $249 re-listing fee. All unpaid fees will be handed over to a collection agency and pursued to the fullest extent of the law.

The only fee added by the seller is our $149 fee. This is used to isolate our fixed expenses such as eBay fees. transportation. processing. etc. . and is not applied to any costs incurred by the purchaser.

The purchaser is responsible for any and all costs associated with transfer of ownership including. but not limited to: registration. sales tax. tags (including temp or in-transit tags). title transfer. inspection. and transportation expenses.

We are able to complete most tag. registration. and title work. as well as collect sales tax. for Pennsylvania residents.

For out-of-state buyer we can issue a 30-day temporary tag (aka In-Transit tag). The cost is $39 and the buyer must show a valid driver's license and current proof of insurance.
