Up for sale is this infamous 1971 Nova Pro Touring Project Build which would cost over $150k with labor to reproduce. This is Project Swinger - the well-known project build that was constructed over a 4-year period on StreetLegalTV. com - the project has been completed. and it's time for the magazine staff to start another project. Thus. Project Swinger is available for purchase. The car has only 350 miles on it since completion.


This is an extremely well known project vehicle and well over 100. 00 people have followed it's build. As you can see. over 50 professional photos have been provided for your review. to show you every detail of the vehicle. In addition. two videos are available which have been embedded into the listing.


This build is one the nicest frame-up Pro Touring builds you will ever lay your eyes on. a 600 HP monster with a brand-new CTS-V / ZL1 Camaro supercharged LSA 6. 2L engine with EFI. that is just as comfortable cruising on the highway. as competing in auto-cross or road race competitions. This Nova will run right next to a C6 Z06 and outrun it on the straightaway with 514 rear wheel horsepower.


This Nova features a full. professional-level frame-up restoration. a $15. 00 flawless Planet Color Dark Grey Pearl Metallic paint job. and a complete host of Pro Touring upgrades. The paint is immaculate. the body is straight. and every panel is aligned to better-than-new condition. The drip rails have been shaved and antenna for a truly custom look. SS-inspiration appears in the grill and emblems. Mini-tubs have been installed in the rear of the car to allow for custom 18 x 11 inch and 18 x 8 inch Forgeline 3-piece wheels ($8. 00) wrapped in BFG G-force tires. A Classic Industries cowl-hood was added to provide a subtle hint to the power levels contained under hood. In addition. the underside of the vehicle features a professional restoration as well. including a complete underbody coating process. This is show-level fit and finish. and performance to match.


The Powertrain


This isn't just a show car. it's a performance machine will full-touring underpinnings. It's got top-notch performance details inside and out. It starts with an amazing power plant. non other than a brand new Cadillac CTS-V 6. 2L Supercharged engine was fitted into the Nova. complete with the GM Factory wiring harnesses. drive-by-wire pedal assembly. intercooler. and EFI system. The engine is also fitted into the ZL1 Camaro. and delivers 600 horsepower with refinement that is rare in the world of high performance. It is smooth. quiet. and well-balanced — all while delivering breathtaking power.


More than sheer performance. the LSA balances great power with exceptional refinement. An advanced. sixth-generation Eaton supercharger with high-twist four-lobe rotors is a large contributor to the engine's quiet high performance. It enables a broad power band with almost imperceptible operation. GM engineers created 370 different power simulations to optimize the LSA. It has been validated beyond 100. 00 miles and has accumulated more than 6. 00 hours of dynamometer testing. During testing. it was run more than 270 consecutive hours at wide-open throttle without a failure. and it completed actual and simulated 24-hour track tests.


A unique aluminum cylinder block casting houses a forged-steel crankshaft and super-tough reciprocating parts. integrated piston-cooling oil jets. and high-flow cylinder heads that support the airflow enabled by a 1. 9L. Eaton sixth-generation supercharger with four-lobe. high-twist rotors. The advanced rotor design broadens the supercharger's effective range. enhancing low-rpm torque and high-rpm horsepower. The engine and all parts are brand new. The engine makes 600 HP as fitted into the Nova. making 514. 7 and 470 ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheels.  


Backing the power is a Tremec TKO 600 manual transmission for effortless shifting. along with a twin-disk clutch. the “Perfect Fit” transmission kit. and a brand new driveshaft. Fueling is via an Aeromotive stealth fuel system. Other upgrades include an Afco radiator and Derale Fan. And the car runs and sounds every bit as good as it looks: ready to seek and destroy with 1-7/8 headers and Flowmaster mufflers. The sale of this Nova includes an official Dynojet Dynamometer Test Report.  


In the rear. the power required a major upgrade - the Nova was chosen for a brand new Currie 9-inch rear end. called the “9-Plus” as it's a brand new unit. It includes 31-spline Axles. and a Detroit Truetrac Limited Slip differential.


Looks and Details: Brightwork & Trims


Every detail has been attended to on this Pro Touring machine. 100% new bright work was fitted to the Nova. including brand new bumpers. hardware. moldings. trims. frames and vents. All new glass was fitted. New weather stripping rubbers and trims. New mirrors. door handles. locks. and emblems were carefully installed. Finally. new window regulators were installed. plus a custom black-out SS-grill and Ring Brothers hood hinges give a custom look.


Peaking inside. you'll find a 100% fresh interior. featuring a mix of well-appointed new OE restored items and performance upgrades.   It all starts with professionally installed Dynamat. as this Nova includes a complete Dynamat Xtreme Custom Cut installation. Dynamat was professionally installed on the doors. floor. rear seat. package tray. and trunk - using Dynamat Xtreme which lowers interior sound. vibration. and heat. ProCar front seats were up fitted due to the handling prowess. along with a Grant LeMas steering wheel. and a Dakota Digital gauge cluster. Finally. all-new interior panels. dash. carpeting. headlines. kick panels. and rear package trays were custom-done by a high-end custom car upholster. The final touch is a Flaming River brand new steering column fitted with Flaming River's “Keyless” push-button start system.


If you're worrying about little details like wiring - don't worry. We re-wired it from top to bottom with GM wiring harnesses for the EFI. engine and transmission. and OER harnesses built to OEM specs for lights and interior. Backed with an Optima red-top battery. the electronics are well-engineered.


Chassis. Suspension. Wheels & Braking


These days. big power and classic Muscle-car looks aren't enough - we expect modern-day sports car handling to match. This Nova can run alongside a C6 Z06 (if you have the guts) on the road course or auto cross with a complete Ridetech “Challenger” front and rear Pro Touring suspension system. This includes front tubular control arms. triple adjustable coil-over shocks and springs. upgraded sway bar. and a power steering “rack and pinion” conversion kit. In the rear. a modern 4-link has been installed with tubular upper and lower control arms. upgraded sway bar. and coil-over rear shocks and springs. A mini-tub kit has been fitted to provide room for up to 315-mm tires. along with through the floor subframe connectors.


Rolling stock is critical for looks and performance. Forgeline's custom-built SP3P Gun Metal Gray 3-piece wheels got the call. with custom touches such as Diamond Edge with Brushed Outer rings. with a special clear coat. Sizes are 18 x 7. 5-front and 18 x 11 rear. complete with BFGoodrich G-Force 235/40/ZR18 Front and 295/35/ZR18 Rear Tires. Stopping power is critical with this kind of horsepower. and this Nova has it in abundance. SSBC's FX3 Disc Brake Kit and Force 10 Rear Disk brakes (13-inch front and rear) feature an Internal Parking Brake. Aluminum Billet calipers. Vented Rotors with Xtra Life Plating. and Hawk Brake Pads.


In Conclusion


Sometimes the best cars are the ones that speak softly. This beautiful Pro Touring ride doesn't have a crazy supercharger sticking through the hood. or a crazy ground effects. or a poor-stall inducing idle. It's solid. classic. extremely well built - and featuring soul-crushing horsepower and handling.   Unlike many classes restorations that are only “skin deep” this vehicle has been re-engineered top to bottom to be the idea muscle car/pro touring ride. From the modern Cadillac drivetrain. to the fully restored and upgraded. interior to the world-class handling - this ride is a collector's dream.
