This soft top 50 is quite the personality. a solid 2 Owner San Diego. California survivor that's well documented and wonderfully preserved. so listen up. Sold new to Charles Burton at University Motors in San Diego on 02/22/1950. who retained ownership for over 30 years. Purchased by Jim. the current 34 year San Diego owner in 1980 whom lived 3 doors down from Charles during the 50's & 60's but could never talk him into selling it and later moved away but they remained in touch. In 1980 Charles called and said "he would sell him the car". Without hesitation. Jim told him "that he would be over the next day to pick it up and pay him". The original sale documents are included. read on for more.

Over the years. both owners have petted. protected and preserved it. like it was part of the family. The "original" engine was rebuilt in 1972 when Charles added all of the accessories like aluminum heads. dual Stromberg 97 carburetors. polished intake manifold. Mallory dual point distributor. Fenton cast iron headers. Charles also had the car painted in the 70's which remains the finish today.

Jim drove the car the way it is all through the 80's when he freshened up the engine again (no cylinder bore. new rings. bearings & seals etc). In the 90's the car was converted to 12 volts and the original power top motor was updated with a late model T-Bird electric motor mounted in the trunk. Within the last few years. it was freshened up under the hood including powder-coated fender panels & anything that could be unbolted was painted. re-polished the intake manifold. rebuilt carbs and installed an alternator that looks like a generator. added factory fog lights with original switch. rebuilt the original 3 speed "overdrive" transmission and dropped spindles (originals included).

The interior seating has been reupholstered to stock with correct materials & color while the door panels are original except for the parts that were worn. The dash and gauges are original including the paint on the dash and firewall. "ALL" original documents include dealer Retail Buyers Invoice ($2264. 87 purchase price less $600 trade plus taxes etc). Authorized Ford Dealers Service Policy. Ford 1950 Model Brochure. California registrations dating back to 1950 and a thick receipt file.

In closing. cars like this are always very special and uniquely rare. It goes without saying. it's been well maintained and is a very dependable driver. A "True 50's Survivor". will you be the next caretaker?
