1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Hardtop

Big Block SS396 M20 4-speed with AC. PS. PB. Tilt wheel. tach pack. F41 suspension and more! 185 miles since restoration!

The Chevelle was introduced in 1964 as Chevrolet's mid-size model and offered in eight different body styles and with six different engines throughout its first generation. The car received its first restyling for 1966 and with it came a host of performance-biased equipment. engines and rear ends. Chevrolet promotional literature claimed “What you'll see inside will probably bring on a severe compulsion to go driving. ” In all. 59. 83 SS396 Chevelles found their way into the garages of speed demons and it proved to be a successful year for Chevrolet's mid-sized line-up.

We are very excited to represent this 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Hardtop! Wearing its correct 13817 VIN signifying a true SS car. this Chevelle is finished in a not frequently seen shade of Nantucket Blue (originally CC – Provincial White) over a Black vinyl bucket seat interior (originally 729 – Blue imitation leather bench). The car is fitted with a host of options including a mildly modified 402ci big block V8 (date-coded to 1970) which we estimate to be making around 350 horsepower. The car is backed by an M20 4-Speed Manual transmission with Hurst shifter and standard 3. 31 gearing in a 12-bolt housing. The car is further equipped with Air Conditioning. power steering. power brakes (with front discs). tilt column. dash tachometer. AM/FM/Cassette/Auxiliary digital radio. day/night mirror. F41 suspension and more! The car is currently riding on refinished steel wheels with hubcaps and trim rings and wrapped in a staggered set of BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. measuring 225 up front and 275 out back.

The restoration of this car started about five years ago by a local gentleman who had the car entirely stripped and painted. Furthermore. all chrome and pot metal trim appears to have been redone and/or replaced at this time. As often happens with restoration projects. interest wanes and budgets falter; it was at this point in 2009 that the previous owner purchased the car and committed to finishing it. A motor was sourced and sent off to be professionally rebuilt including heads and Speed Pro flat top pistons with 9. 3:1 compression. new roller chain. Speed Pro Chrome Moly rings. Erson TQ20H mild cam. and new hardware inside the heads. The motor inhales through an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and exhales/snarls through Hooker headers and brand new full 2. 5” exhaust. Furthermore. the transmission was said to have been serviced with a fresh Phoenix Friction hybrid ceramic clutch installed for enhanced pedal feel and “bite”. In addition. the following items were replaced: steering box. front suspension components. wiring harness (American Auto Wire) and an idle stop solenoid was added. The radiator and gas tank were both removed. boiled and repainted before being reinstalled. The interior is predominantly new. with new door panels. dash pad. visors. headliner. seat belts. carpet and seat covers over freshly sandblasted seat hardware. All glass remains original Soft-Ray tinted except the front windshield. which is a replacement tinted unit.

The car shows only 185 miles since the completion and all post-restoration bugs have been worked out. The car looks great. sounds great. shifts great and drives great; the only thing currently needed is a new owner. We are positive that there will be no disappointments for that lucky individual! We would be more than happy to answer any additional questions on this Chevelle; please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks for looking!
