Cadillac's model range saw significant changes for 1977. The convertible Eldorado was officially dead. the 500ci motor was gone and the cars were downsized across the line. The deVille series including the Coupe and Sedan were no exception. with the 1977 model being almost 10 inches shorter. four inches more tapered and 1000 pounds lighter. Cadillac experienced its best deVille series sales yet. with over 234. 00 sold in 1977 alone! Changes for 1979 included a new lightweight aluminum hood covering the standard 425ci V8 motor. Many coachbuilders created their own versions of these late 70s Cadillacs that GM themselves caught on and started building limited editions for the various ordering districts. One of the more exclusive factory-built special editions was the D'Marchand Edition. produced late in 1979. Also known as the Chicago Edition. it was seen throughout the Chicago area in dealer promotional material and was an $1825 option that included such appointments as custom paint and upholstery.

We are pleased to offer this rare 1979 Cadillac Coupe D'Marchand / Chicago Edition finished in its correct and original two-tone Sable Black and Slate Gray Firemist with a red pinstripe and Slate Gray elk-grain vinyl Cabriolet roof. The car is equipped with its original 425ci V8 mated to a 3-Speed Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission. The most important option on this car is the dealer-ordered D'Marchand appearance package which included the aforementioned two-tone exterior color scheme but also came with matching two-tone Black and Slate Gray leather interior with red piping and matching door panels. Other features of this package included right-hand outside side-view mirror. dual comfort front seats. wire wheel covers. dark gray leather trimmed steering wheel. black vinyl trim (usually gray) and front fender moldings. In addition. this car has the following a la carte options: AC with climate control. power steering. brakes. windows. locks and 6-way driver and passenger seats.
