This is not your average classic or collector car listing. nor is it for a “fixed up” driver or “one re-spray” or a kept up or even a restored collectible.   This listing IS for one of the last cars with some “muscle” from that era. and in ORIGINAL condition & meticulously kept.   As close to “like new” as is possible for a 40+ year old car.

1973 AMC Javelin AMX with 57. 46 ORIGINAL MILES & ORIGINAL OWNER!  This car has always been garaged. (rubber floor). under cover and literally babied.   Has the AMX package. plus optional 360 - 4 barrel. and the rare (for '73) 4  speed with the Hurst shifter.   This car is ALL ORIGINAL - MINT & UNMOLESTED.   Never hit; all original body. paint. chrome. interior. motor. transmission & rear.   Besides oil changes & tune-ups. the only “wear & tear repairs” over the last 41+ years are a water pump. tailpipes (chrome baloney-cut extensions saved & re-installed). a few batteries. the alternator refurbished. and the rear wheel cylinders & shoes. That's about it as far as replacement parts.   It's an unbelievable SURVIVOR CAR; truly a time capsule. Totally unmolested - only the radio has been changed to an AM-FM-Cassette. and the original radio is included. No cracks in the dash. no splits in the seat. no dried out or torn rubber door seals. etc.   The under-hood insulation is loose. but that's about it.   There can only be a handful of these original cars in this condition left out there. as they were rare to start with. usually beat on. and developed serious rust areas.   NO RUST on this puppy!  Never seen snow or salt. and very little rain a few times (caught after a car show) in 41+ years.

Special ordered in black on black with the “T-Stripe” delete in Sept of 1972 (remember how the new cars always came out in Sept of the prior year?) after returning from Vietnam. and it was delivered in December.   Car includes a complete paper trail. starting with the Original Bill Of Sale from Lipman Motors in Hartford. CT.

Everything works. except the clock. within the “Tic-Toc-Tach. ”  Even the original A. I. R. pump still works and the tubes into the exhaust manifolds are intact.   (These pumps were known to freeze up if the car was not driven much or stored for a while. or were often removed.   Also. the tubes into the exhaust manifolds usually rotted away or were broken off and the ports plugged).   Driven “A LITTLE” every couple months of its life to date. for pleasure and to keep things moving. it runs VERY well.   Under the hood is untouched - not dressed up or even cleaned up.   Looks like a 40 year old engine compartment would look.   Strictly original.   Took it to car shows the last few years. where it always got a 1st or 2nd place award in whatever class it fit. and generated a lot of questions & interest.   The car was unseen in the auto hobbyist world before that.

As for the sum of “patina” of this 41 year old car…

·         *  A small “ding” on the RF fender. midway above the molding (see close-up photo)

·        *    A small “ding” on the RT side just under the rear bumper (see close-up photo)

·        *   A small “ding” in the trim on the leading edge of the hood
