Jaguar's lovely Mark V. introduced in 1948. featured torsion bar front suspension. four wheel hydraulic brakes and a completely redesigned and lower frame with a 120 inch wheelbase. Power came from a 3. 5-liter overhead valve straight-six with twin SU carburetors to deliver 125 horsepower. The superbly designed coachwork was yet another example of William Lyons' affinity for svelte. elegant styling. and the three-position drophead coupe is both the most visually pleasing and the most desirable. The Mark V was built only until 1951. and this 1950 left-hand drive example. chassis 647046. is one of just 977 drophead coupes. It is in need of a complete restoration. but is a fundamentally sound and complete example. The only substantial rust is found above the running boards. and other than a dent in the left front fender. the body is fairly straight. Car is complete as shown in the photographs. there are no additional parts with the car. This will be a substantial project. but also a relatively straightforward one that will be both gorgeous and highly collectible when finished.
