1948 GMC 1/2 ton short bed pickup. matching numbers in-line 6 cylinder. This truck was frame off restored on 2006 and is currently used to cruise the local car shows. I will list the major parts replaced. but the list of every part is too lengthy. Please know the truck has a cigar box of over $10. 00 in receipts not including the original cost of the truck itself. Odometer was reset to 0 during restoration. Actual milage unknown. Texas Antique Registration for the vehicle is paid until March 2018. License plates will only be included for a Texas buyer.  OE parts were used when possible and no major body work was needed. All four bed rails were replaced with aftermarket panels. both front fenders were pulled from a local salvage yard. The frame. cab. doors. hood. and rear fenders are original to the car. The car has been in the family and stored indoors since 1980. It sat from 1980 to 2002 in a residential two car garage. It was restored as a father son project from late 2002 to the spring of 2005. It received a few other minor parts in 2006 and continues to be stored in doors. This is a Texas car with a long history of ownership. We do not need to sell the truck. but we have started another restoration project and have lost interest in this one. As the pictures will show the car has been frame off restored to original (upgraded radial tires). every nut and bold replaced. The motor is not numbers matching. but is an original era specific motor. It was pulled out of storage and given a tuneup with rebuilt carb. fresh gas and it fired back to life. During the restoration. the motor was taken down to a short block to replace the gaskets and paint the engine cover parts. The motor was never pulled or rebuilt. it just wasn't financially worth it because it was still running. The only problem noted with the motor is a tapping noise ( sounds like a loose rocker arm) and it runs rich. The motor is still strong and pulls a great vacuum through the carb. Transmission is the original 3 speed column shift. If you have never driven one it is a fun experience to shift on the column. With a 216 ci motor and only three gears. it tops out at 45 mph. Maybe 55 if you're going down hill with the wind behind you. It's a fun cruising car. The best part about the truck is the beautiful black walnut wood bed and side rails. This is furniture grade wood and nothing has ever been put in the bed. The interior was redone in a saddle color vinyl. The gas tank was moved from under the truck to inside the cab. The wiring was completely replaced and matches the original wiring diagram. It is still a 6 volt system with a generator charging system. It retains the points in the distributor. The list of major replaced parts are as follows: new master cylinder. shoes. lines rebuilt wheel cylinder. rebuilt column. rebuilt carb. tune up. rebuilt generator. engine gasket kit. new king pins. new bumpers. new bed rails and wood bed. rebuilt rear end. new shackles and bushings. new hub caps. new temp gauge. new gauge face plates. new cables. new interior. new windshield and back window glass. new window guides/felts. rebuilt door hinges. new tires. new exhaust system. new park light housing/lense front and back. new wiring. replaced floor boards and lower cab corners. new fuel pump. tank. fuel lines. sending unit. new water pump. battery. The entire vehicle has been painted in PPG DP90 primer/sealer. This includes the frame. cab. panels and exterior body. The vehicle was completely disassembled fram off and sandblasted prior to being prime red. The vehicle did not receive any body work prior to primer. This means the truck still needs some attention with a hammer and dolly and some block sanding prior to painting. There are two small spots where the rust damage was not replaced because it was on a curved surface and it was beyond our metal working experience. One is located on the top of the fender where the hood touches the fender. It is directly under the GMC emblem measuring 3/8" by three inches. The other is on the front of the passenger rear fender where it bolts to the running board. It was concealed when the running board was installed but photo shows the back side of it. All the door rubber comes with the truck but it is not installed because it requires glue. We wanted to actually paint the vehicle before installing them and we just never did. This is a great truck. but please remember it was restored to original so it runs and drives like an old truck. Please ask questions and send emails. I will include a phone number in emails to discuss purchase in detail. I will take or send you additional pictures on request. We have hundreds of photos of this truck though the restoration process. We have decided to move on from this restoration. but we are not going to give it away. Please no deadbeat offers or trades. We will deliver the truck to the Austin. TX area for transportation or delivery. but buyer is responsible for the rest of the way/shipping cost. Vehicle is sold as is with no warranties written. verbal or implied. This is a used truck. I can give a gentleman's handshake. but I can't guarantee anything but the workmanship. All receipts will accompany the vehicle. The vehicle is available for showing upon request and is also for sale locally.  The last few pictures show the truck during restoration back in 2004.

On Jun-15-14 at 16:32:03 PDT. seller added the following information:

The description of the motor is misleading so let me clarify. The motor is numbers matching. The vin plate matches the stamped vin number on the motor which matches the title. It was believed to be a replacement motor because of bad information on the internet which said this casting number was a passenger car motor only. Additional research disputes that information and the matching vin number on the motor should have been the dead give away. Sorry for the contradicting statement. I hope this clears up any issues.
