1941 Cadillac Convertible Sedan.   VIN 8356093  Number 238 of 400 built. The last year of the 4 door convertible and the last of the hand built Cadillac's.  This was also the first time Cadillac offered a fully automatic transmission.   A total of 17% of the cars were equipped with the Hydramatic option.   This was the drive train used in WWII tanks.
Offered here is a highly optioned car with the Hydramatic transmission. factory fog lights. fender skirts. back up light. factory spot light. under seat heaters. radio and vacuum operated antenna.
The car is a CLC Grand National. CCCA Senior. AACA award winner. a CLC calendar car and has won other numerous awards.   It is gorgeous. The photos do not do it justice. I took the car out of the garage. snapped the photos and did not wash it.  The car had a body off restoration and an engine rebuild by the noted Packard restorer Mark Ohm. During my ownership. the car was further enhanced and sorted. The original transmission was clunky and was rebuilt by Hibernia Restoration with updated 1947 parts for added reliability.   The car was sent to Jenkins in North Carolina where the steering column was repainted the correct color. the top was fitted. a matching boot sewn together. correct chrome moldings installed. the trunk interior was stripped and redone with the correct material. correct cloth cases were made for the jacks. tools and top side pieces. the radio was sent for rebuilding and a quartz clock conversion preformed.  The carpet was not correct and was incorrectly sewn. so the car went to Montclair Auto Upholstery where the carpet was replaced with correct Woolton wool carpet and the transmission flap was properly sewn. The manifolds are the correct green/black porcelain. the wiring harness is Rhode Island Wiring. I could go on and on.

The interior is immaculate.   The leather seats. door panels. chrome. cloth are like the day they left the showroom - simply gorgeous.   Worth mentioning are the headlights.   Cadillac first introduced sealed beam headlights in late 1940. The correct sealed beam for this car has a replaceable bulb mounted inside a glass reflector.   It took years to track down a correct pair. it always starts a conversation. Just recently I installed an Optima battery with a reproduction vintage battery case and a NOS vacuum antenna. These 2 items alone cost over a $1100. 00.  The few flaws are very minor and if time permits I might take care of them.   There is a small 3" dent on the corner of the gas tank from running over a piece of wood; I have not found the correct switch/bulb for the glove box; there is a 1/4" nick in the center chrome convertible side mount. and while taking the photos I noticed the edge of the back up light had a slight yellow cast. I have not tried to polish it. but will try this weekend.

Prices have begun to rise for these cars and this is a blue chip investment.   Recently. a 2 door convertible sold at auction for $184. 00 and there is a current listing of a 4 door convertible for $179. 00. The reserve is much lower. Lesser cars $90-$100k.   This car is a pleasure to drive and is ready to show or cruise. especially being automatic. It runs cool and cruises at 65-70 mph all day.  If you would like to inspect. test drive. have questions or would like specific photos. please call or text me at 973-997-1846.
