1948 Ford Anglia

You are viewing a professionally built Anglia by an old time Hot Rodder.   The project was started in 99 and finished in 2004 with 13. 00 miles since finished.   This car is one of 3. 00 left hand drive cars imported to the US and Canada in 48.

Please read on for more particulars of the car:

Body/Paint:  Steel body and doors.   Trunk lid. rear fenders and front clip is fiberglass.   Original steel rear fenders come with the car and are finished and painted body color in perfect condition.   Steel custom floor and firewall with some patch panels used in the build.   The fiberglass front clip is a vintage aftermarket that was new when purchased.   The body work is excellent with multiple coats of primer with block sanding prior to paint.   The paint is a base/clear two stage Chrysler Patriot Blue metallic.   A great looking color choice on this body.   Very showy without being loud.   The paint is in excellent condition with a few very small chips in the front.

Interior:  The interior is very nice with blue cloth and comfortable.   A very tall person can fit comfortably in the car.   Folding bucket seats are out of a Mercury Merkur.   GM tilt column. Stewart Warner wing gauges. tach. speedo. volt. temp. fuel. and oil pressure.   The car has turn signals.   Remote bear claw door popper with fob.   Hidden emergency cable pulls to open doors.   Electric windows. rears are fixed.   Trunk houses the custom made aluminum 16 gallon gas tank.   Custom roll bar. battery located in the rear of the car with electrical shut off switch as well as roll over safety switch that shuts off the fuel supply.   Mounted fire extinguisher.   No stereo. AC or heater.

Running Gear:  350 bored and stroked. 383ci. early 70's 4 bolt main.   Full roller motor with Forged Eagle crank and rods. KB aluminum pop up pistons. 10 to 1 compression. runs on pump gas. Comp cam nice and lumpy. HEI with Petronix module ignition. 7 quart oil pan. AFR aluminum heads 195cc. Edelbrock aluminum stroker intake. Holley 770 Street Avenger.   Approximately 500 HP.   She really hauls a*s and still gets 19 mpg at hiway speed.   The car can be driven long distances.   Transmission is a custom built TH350 with shift kit using HD hardened parts.   Rear end is a Ford 9 inch housing out of a 65 T Bird custom built with an Art Morrison gear axle set up with 350 gears and Detroit Locker.   Custom driveline. 32 Ford Walker radiator and hard wired electric puller fan.   Runs cool at 180 on 100 degree days.   1 wire 100 amp alternator.

Suspension:  Custom frame with coil over front and rear with 4 link rear end.   Front tubular A arms angled and patterned off a Mustang II one inch narrower on each side.   Fat man rack and pinion narrowed.   The setup is not a kit.

Bright work:  In excellent condition.

Glass:  All new and tinted including the windshield.

Exhaust:  Ceramic coated shorty headers with no cut outs.   Mandrel bent 2. 5 inch exhaust with Wicked racing mufflers with side exit.   Sounds awesome.

Brakes:  Rears are T Bird large drums. Fronts are non-power disc 11 inch front and rear.   Brakes work extremely well knowing the car weighs in at 2000 lbs. or so.

Wheels/Tires:  Wheels are Weld all the way around.   Rears are 15x15 inch. fronts are 15x5.   Rear tires are 29X15. 50 R15LT 91H.   Fronts are 185/65 R15.   Rears tires have been on the car since finished with lots of rubber.   Fronts were replaced to track better and only have 4K miles.

Summary:  This car represents a very streetable Hot Rod.   Even though not blown the car is fast and very reliable designed to be driven on hiway or street.   Great color. stance and turnkey.   Needs nothing other than to be enjoyed.   I have over 100 pictures of the car so please contact me and provide your email address if you would like additional pictures.   Great value and quality build for the money.   Don't let this car slip away.

This car has been on the market for numerous years. What does it take to satisfy a sale? I'm interested but I'm not interested in stringing a purchase over years for a sell.

from Jim Hall, dated 09 august 2023
Hello, I am reviewing your beautiful Anglia on the internet. Is the car still available for sale? I am the owner of two nice 48's myself and would like to add your car to my collection. Originally based in London and after going through 6 of these little beauties I .can't outgrow my love for them. Please email me back if you still have it and are interesting in selling it. Thanks, Jim Hall, just another Anglia lover!
