The SL line has longevity; it is the second-longest series produced by M-B. It was code-named “R107” inside Mercedes during the production phase.

The SL combines the chassis of the W114 and the engines of the S class. The body itself was built with a newer paint system designed to improve protection from rust. The headlights in North American makes were paired and round compared to the square units in the rest of the world.
