This is a very rare Chrysler Traveler. The Traveler was Chrysler's answer to the station wagon which was seen as a Commercial Vehicle. Productions numbers are non existent as these car were lumped in with all Windsor Sedans built. An estimate was about 4000 were built and I know of 10 still in existence. In all of the years I have been with Ebay I have seen one and I bought it. They very rarely come up for sale anyplace. You will be guaranteed to have the only one at the car show.
The car originally came from Kansas and must have spent a large part of its life on dirt roads as we spent hours pressure washing. scraping. clean all the dirt out of the car. There was no rust on the car at all. It carries all the original sheet metal. drive train and engine.
The work we did to the car was extensive:All the paint was removed via soda blasting. The chassis and floor panels were sealed with POR 15. All the braking components were replace including master cylinder. wheel cylinders. brake shoes and lines. Basically anything that need to be replaced mechanically was done. Wiring was either replaced with correct wire and or repaired. We did not redo the motor as it just did not need it. It runs and drive fine and has good oil pressure and burns no oil. The trans was flushed and works correctly as it both down shifts and up shift as the " Tip Toe" semi automatic should do. The Roof Rack was missing when I bought is and with a little work and a lot of money I tracked down the correct parts and even had all the wood fabricated correctly as was done back in 48. The Car was repainted using the correct colors for the car and shows very well. There is one small pimple but to sand it out would cause more harm than good. The paint is really very nice. The interior was completely redone including the headliner. carpet and seats with the correct color to match the existing. New. correct door sills. The Chrome was redone but I did not have all the pits removed. still very very nice. The car has 4 new Diamond Back Wide White Radials. The glass has been replaced on all 4 sides. The windshield is original. The drives side has a scratch in the middle but it never bother me. Wing windows are original. Some of the brightwork has dents and dings but again it never bother me. The car sports a correct Fulton Sun Visor. The Dash is good. All of the gauges work. lights work. even the parking brake light works. The Glove compartment Bakalite is cracked and had been glued by the previous owner. Not that attractive but still not bad. I never got around to locating a new/used one. Radio and Clock do not work. The car has the correct Fog lamps that work. The spot light did work but needs a new bulb. The car runs and drives great. I have taken it on many a trip of over 200 miles with no problems at all. It runs at highway speeds. never gets hot. and I believe you could drive this anywhere. I have a clear NJ title in hand.
The car is located in Stewartsville. NJ. I welcome inspections. Any questions please call Rob at 908-403-0568. Please ask all questions prior to bidding.  Payment shall be a $ 500. 00 non-refundable deposit via PayPal at the close of the auction. Balance due with in 5 days via Wire Transfer or Cash in Hand upon pickup. No Bank Checks. personal check. No exceptions. I will store the car for 2 weeks after full payment. As usual everything for shipping is by you. Thanks for looking and again you will probably never see another one come up for sale.  I

Hello,
I know that this is a late post about your traveler. I am just getting into restoring one now. I have the roof rack but none of the screws to mount all of the pieces. Do you have any information on what screws were used. I don't even know if they were phillips heads or standard heads.
Thanks,
Dave
