Its history can be traced back to the company's Vehicle Design Force, which was founded in 1978 Gerald Wiegert. The production of cars began in 1989 and ended in the mid-90s. The company has recently been revived (under the name of Vector Motors Corporation), and is currently developing a new supercar. Company Vector attributed to the first attempt to America to compete with European producers in the creation of powerful sports cars, such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Lotus.

Almost every car manufactured by the company marked with the letter "W" and the number. The letter "X" after W (for example, WX-8) means a prototype vehicle. The only exception from this rule is Megatech era M12, where the "M" stands for Megatech and 12 means of its V12 engine.
