Up for auction is a lovely  bright red mark 2 Triumph Spitfire with a removable steel factory Hardtop.   This rust free example has spent its entire life in sunny California. proven by its original 1968 black license plate. The car had a cosmetic restoration about 4 years ago by a local British car specialist shop at an expense of over ten thousand dollars which included fresh paint. chrome. seals and interior. The owner passed away shortly after buying the car and his widow had the shop finish the car to how her husband had wanted it. This Spitfire has had very little miles put on it since it was finished. nothing more than taking it to local shows and now the widow is ready to let someone new enjoy it. The Body is straight and rust free with good door and bonnet fitment. the paint on the hard top has three scratches measuring around 4 inches in length.   The bright work is very nice and shiny with no pitting and was either replaced or re-chromed. The glass is very good with no cracks or bulls eyes and the lenses are new appearing. the window seals are new. The interior has new seat upholstery and foam. new panels including the doors. nbsp;new carpet. new dash top and new walnut dashboard. The gauges all work but the rev counter is erratic. The oil pressure and ignition warning lights function correctly going out as soon as the engine fires up and all the lights and signals work. The drivetrain is stock. the 1300cc four cylinder engine fires up easily and runs smoothly with no knocking or smoke. the clutch is light and the transmission shifts well. The dual S. U carbs have been overhauled as well as the brake and clutch master cylinder. I am selling this Spitfire for the owner as I am a collector of classic British cars and feel that I can present the car best.   I recently took it for a 20 mile drive to video and photograph it. I can report that it did not overheat and ran well. The brakes stopped the car in a straight line and the steering was nice and light. Overall this is a nice early Triumph Spitfire that can be enjoyed immediately and a very inexpensive way to enjoy a classic British convertible.
