1982 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia Camper for sale
Current customer rating: (256 votes ) based onMy local VW mechanic confirms that this VW Vanagon camper is one of the smoothest running he has ever driven. It was purchased in New England in 2013. having been stored indoors for the previous four years. In 2013/2014 all the mechanical parts. including engine. were replaced. thus the van is in excellent running condition.
The "new" engine is a 2010 Golf which had only 18. 00 miles on it when installed and has been driven less than one-thousand miles since installation. Originally diesel. the van has been converted to gasoline.
Other updates include suspension and brakes. radiator and fuel tank. front heater core. blower motor. battery. cable. starter. fuel pump. clutch master cylinder. stereo/speakers. all-weather tires. alloy rims. enhanced headlights. plus a long list of hoses. switches. valves. seals. bushings. bearings. gaskets. O-rings. etc. . nbsp;totaling over $20k of mechanical updates.
The body is rust free. the interior is in very good condition. complemented by new rubber mats throughout. the pop-top works well. with the tent being in good condition with only a minor scrape on one side.
The van has all its original camping equipment--stove. fridge. water tank. plug-ins. My mechanic (a Swiss national whose family worked for decades at the VW Westfalia factory in Wolfsburg. Germany). the owner of Gerteis Motors in Shreveport LA. has worked on VW's in this country for over 25 years and is happy to verify the excellent running condition of the van.
I bought the van in a moment of Proustian remembrance of the 1970's when I owned a Westy in Germany. but to paraphrase that great American philosopher Bob Dylan. "The times. they have a-changed. " It needs new owners who will make good use of it. blazing new trails in an old wilderness.
Please contact Terry at (318) 470-1599 if I can provide any further useful information regarding the updates/condition of the vehicle.
