1949 Dodge B1-B Pickup / 118 wheelbase. older restoration done professionally.

 

The "Hudson Green" finish is high gloss and the Oak laminated bed wood and side rails excellent condition. the rebuilt. freshly detailed and original 218 C. I. flat head - L head / inline 6 cyl. engine rated @ 95 H. P. & 175 lbs. of torque@ 3. 00 r. p. m. 's . Paired w/ 4 spd. manual transmission.

 

Has new "wide white" radial tires. reshly painted Red rims w/ correct Dodge embossed hub caps. The interior has been re-done in a "Saddle" color vinyl.

 

It has original miles showing of 47. 73 and it a good running and driving. functional work horse !!.

History of the 1949 Dodge pickup : The "Pilot-House" was what they named this cab style. It came from the industries first cab with more glass for better parameter visibility. higher and roomier cab

                                   

The trucks cab could seat 3 average build men !!. They had improved height. 1/2 ft. better width and 1/4 ft. more length. 1948-1953 was what was badged the "B series"

 

The much improved models were as follows: * B1-B - 1/2 ton truck w/ 108 in. WB. *B1-C - 3/4 ton w/ 116 in. wheelbase Here were “Dodge's first postwar. both light and medium-duty trucks

 

The engines in these well-received new trucks were shifted forward and the front axle set back a bit. resulting in a shorter wheelbase. wider front tracking and better over-all weight distribution. Higher and wider cargo bed sides raised the load-carrying capacity by about 40 percent over older models. ”

 

The B1-B series Dodge trucks. such as this fine example. were powered by the 218 c. i. 6 cylinder. L-head / flat head engine; 95 horsepower at 3600 rpm w/ 175 ft-lb of torque at 1600 rpm.

 

A lot of these trucks were sold with 3 or 4-speed manual transmissions. (this being a 4 spd)

 

The Dodge "powerhouse" truck weighed 4. 50 lb. It had a 108" wheelbase. The colors were few. however a two-tone paint option was optional. This new Dodge impacted the American trucking industry greatly with it's improved design and upgrades.
