1950 Humber Super Snipe Limousine Limo for sale
Current customer rating:
Humber produced high quality cars from its plant at Ryton-on-Dunsmore in Warwickshire from 1946. Earlier production was from the Coventry works and prior to 1880. Thomas Humber produced bicycles and early powered vehicles from Beeston in Nottinghamshire. The Snipe and its longer wheelbase Pullman cousin arrived in 1930. shortly before the Company's acquisition by the Rootes Group. The 1938 Super Snipe combined the larger four litre engine of the Pullman and the chassis and body of the Snipe. Variants of these motor cars saw important service with the Allied Forces during the war years.
This impressive 1950 Super Snipe Mk III is a rare motor car. It is believed that just four pre-1952 Super Snipes were fitted with the then experimental ‘Blue Riband' overhead valve 4138 cc engine. which went on to be installed in the Mk IV Super Snipes. The current owner understands this to be the only Mk III with the Blue Riband engine on the road today.
The Humber is described as being very good in most departments it runs well and is a pleasure to drive. The motor car has been rewired and the chassis has been cleaned and repainted. The interior is equipped with a new headlining and new carpets. The exhaust system is stainless steel.
