1966 Amphicar Partially Restored and ready for the water for sale
Current customer rating:
I am listing this 1966 Amphicar 770 for my father-in-law. This is his baby…his pride and joy. He first owned a 1965 new in 1965 and fell in love with it. He eventually sold it and new he would own another one some day. He purchased this 1966 in 2010 from an original owner in Arizona. The car was used in Arizona and California…never in salt water.
It is in very good condition and still swims. He spent about $9000. 00 in restoring a lot of the things that needed to be restored. The restorations were done by Gord Souter's Amphicar in Ontario. Canada. If you know about amphicars then you know who Gord Souter is. He is kind of a guru with amphicars.
He enters the car in almost every car show he can and usually wins 1 st place. He also takes it to a lot of the Swim-Ins in Florida. Always in fresh water…the car has never seen salt water. This amphicar is red with a black interior and black convertible top (Very popular color combination). There are a few rust spots on the quarters and the hood and doors but nothing that can't be easily fixed. It is in very good condition for its age and the fact that it is still water worthy. My father-in-law believes these cars are meant to be driven. enjoyed and "sailed". He has told me time and time again that there are only about 250 amphicars left that can still go in the water and he is very proud of the fact his is one of those 250 swimmers left. This is a rare car and getting more rare as the years go on. These cars are said to sky rocket in value in the next few years…. would make a great investment for someone interested in a interesting car/boat. The Seller reserves the right to end the auction prior to end.
