I purchased this FJ40 close to 2. 5 yrs ago from Sedona Arizona.   The rig was completely original and completly rust free - not even surface rust.   As you can see from the before pictures. the truck had original paint when I purchased it.   I searched for over a year to find one in this condition so that it would be an excellent candidate for a professional restoration.   A year and a half ago I commissioned a local FJ40 restoration shop to begin the restoration process.   The restoration was completed at the end of 2011.

I decided to leave the top off as I love driving it with out the top during the spring. summer. and fall.   The complete hard top is included in the sale and is in the orginal condition that I purchased it in with the original paint.   I have posted a few pictures of the vehicle pre-restoration which shows the condition of the top.

The FJ40 has always been garaged during my ownership.   Odometer reads 87k but I would assume that it's 187k

The truck was taken apart and completly and professionally restored.   This is a link to pictures of the restoration process http://www. urbanlandcruisers. com/photos/?album=MikeFJ40

Below is the is an overview of the scope of work that was performed.

Under the hood- The original 2F inline six cylinder was given a superior tune up with all new belts and hoses. engine was de-smoged and a smog pump idler pulley was installed so the engine would runner cleaner and better.   New radiator cap. oil pan gasket. timing belt cover gasket. and lifter cover gasket were all replaced.   New stainless steel battery tray.   The carburator and valves were adjusted.   Engine parts were painted and original Toyota engine stickers were placed in their appropriate places.   The engine and drive train work perfectly.

Steering- New steering stabilizer mounted. Control arm was adjusted and all steering components were lubricated. It is now one of the best steering and driving FJ40s I've ever driven.

Electrical- New mil spec cables and terminals were installed and a general electrical overview was performed to ensure all electrical components function as they should.

Brakes- All new brake lines were installed.   Emergency brake was adjusted.

Suspension and Tires - Greasable shackles and pins were installed. new bushing. new shocks were also installed.   5 new BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires - 31/10. 5/15 were mounted.

Body- Excellent body that has been repainted in single stage acrylic in the factory Freeborn Red.  As you can see from the restoration process pictures. most of the body was taken apart and painted individually.   The flat service of the interior and the fire wall were sprayed with a durable a high quality spray in-liner to add durability to the finish.   Again there was no rust on the vehicle as you can see so this was not done to hide rust etc but only to add years to the durability of the finish on the areas of the vehicle that get the most use.   The undercarriage and frame were coated  with 3M chip guard which was also applied under the front fenders (helps to protect fenders from rock chips).   It has factory roll bars and CCOT HFS Front bumper.   Aqualu half doors and a reel steel tailgate were added to give it a clean oem look.   It has the original jack and jack tools.  Stainless steel bolts. screws. door hinge pins. and washers are used throughout most of the vehicle.    Also a new muffler was installed.

Interior- New windshield and windshield rubber.   All  seats recieved new foam and factory style Marine Naugahyde Vinyl and quality fitted floor mats were also added.  The rear jump seats are in perfect condition with new pads and hardware.   New seat belts.   All new door seals.  It has a new dash pad new shifter and 4wd knobs.  Heater was taken apart and restored and works great.
