SELLER REMARKS

This tidy little 1949 Chevrolet coupe is an entry-level street rod with a great look and a lot of money recently spent under the skin. One of the best-looking designs of the post-war era. this is one of those cars that will never go out of style.

Get in and drive is this car's motto. It's definitely not a trailer queen and proudly wears signs of being driven. because you can get in and drive to the opposite end of the country on a moment's notice. The coupe bodywork wears the bright red paint well. and since it's a few years old there are a few signs of age. On the other hand. there's also plenty of evidence that the work was really nicely done. because the doors fit well. the fenders have generous. smooth curves. and the gaps are tight. A few blemishes here and there shouldn't be held against it. It's been slightly smoothed. with the side trim and hood ornament getting the heave-ho during the build. but there's no mistaking that wide Chevy grille. Those also appear to be the original bumpers tucked in tight to the body. enhancing the vintage look. not to mention the practicality of having some protection at either end.

The dark gray cloth interior is quite clean. and like the rest of the car. covers the basics with quality workmanship that's a few years old. The compact coupe is strictly a 2-seater today. with high-back buckets for both driver and passenger. separated by a custom-made center console. Simple door panels are probably the right choice in this simple little Chevy. and include details like the original armrests and door handles. Power windows were added. along with a well-integrated A/C system and a tilt column with a wooden steering wheel that's downright beautiful. The factory dashboard was painted to match the body and a custom gauge panel was fabricated to fit into the domed housing ahead of the driver. and it's stuffed full of elegant VDO gauges. They didn't interrupt the smooth lines of the dash with a radio. but if you need one it'll be easy enough to add. but I suspect you'll enjoy the drive too much to worry about it. The rear seat area has been converted into an upholstered package shelf and there's a cavernous trunk that's neatly upholstered and includes a full-sized spare.

Open the hood and you can see where a majority of the money was spent. That's a recently rebuilt 350 cubic inch Chevy V8. fully dressed in chrome and ready to rock. An Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and Bowtie intake manifold handle the induction duties and there's a modern serpentine belt setup for the accessory drive that tucks the components in tight to the block. A custom aluminum radiator doesn't sweat hot days and the A/C uses modern R134a refrigerant for ease of service. Power front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering make it feel far more modern on the road. and the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission always seems to be in the right gear. The new dual exhaust system sounds mellow. not obnoxious. and it handles well enough with a big front sway bar and traditional rear leaf springs. Staggered Torque Thrust wheels and 185/75/14 front and 235/75/15 rear radials add just a bit of rake for a traditional look.

Affordable and fun to drive. this is a great way to get into a finished custom with an awesome drivetrain and a classic look. What else do you need for under $20. 00? Call today!
