1958 Cadillac Fleetwood 60S Black with Aqua interior for sale
Current customer rating:
Up for auction is my very fine 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty-Special. Car just came out of 6 months of climate-controlled storage and is ready for another summer of cruising. Car was special-ordered new with the previous year Eldorado dual-carburetor 365 engine. Cadillac offered such an arrangement back in the 50's for customers that wanted something unique. I'll tell you what I know about the car here. but believe an interested buyer would do well to come see the car for themselves. It is currently in Burt Michigan near Saginaw.
Older restoration on a 100% rust-free car. Lacquer
paint has some minor crazing in places. but in my opinion is too good to
repaint. Show chrome is in excellent condition.
Runs and drives beautifully. 5 brand-new American
Classic radial tires. plus the original spare bias tire with rim in the
trunk.
Known issues:
Minor leak of power steering pump that developed over
the winter in storage. I'm guessing this will correct itself once I start
driving the car more. as has been the case with other vintage Cadillacs
that I've owned.
Chip in the windshield which I try to show in the
photos. It's on the passenger side. Not enough to replace the original
windshield in my opinion.
Original air ride system is completely intact for
'show'. but the shocks have been replaced with standards. Air pump does
work as does the level control which I show in the pictures.
Interior and trunk is original. looking a bit tired.
but not all bad. Minor wrinkles in the dash pad. a minor tear in the
original headliner. Seats and door trims should respond to a good
detailing. carpet should likely be replaced (faded).
Minor electrical issues that we've not looked into
yet. Horns are in place. but don't work. Power vent windows work when
they want to. Power seat works. but not 100% and should be looked into. I
suspect that one of the cables is slightly stripped. Heater core has been
by-passed for reasons unknown. but is in place. Clock. Wonderbar radio.
antenna and all 4 power windows work fine. Autronic eye headlamp dimmer
works. but will get to flickering the headlights. which was common. Not
sure if there is a correctable setting for this. Wipers are currently
inoperable and it appears the only component missing is one of the air
hoses at the wiper transmission.
Door weather-stripping is original and should be
replaced. Kits are available online with the correct molded pieces.
Car has lots of undercoating.
but is not hiding anything. No sheet metal welds. My mechanic believes the
undercoating to be factory original. but that is debatable. Car is as
clean underneath as up top. no disappointments.
No air conditioning.
I'm an un-motivated seller and
prepared to keep the car and look into some of the minor issues listed
above. The car turns heads where ever I take it and I'll miss it if it goes. just
thinning out the collection and seeing who is out there. hard to find
another 1958 Fleetwood in this condition so contact me to come see
it. you won't be disappointed. The following picture link features more
than 200 pictures. strangely organized. but should give an interested
buyer a lot to look at. Contact me if I missed something.
