Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 627 votes
1959 GMC 370 series truck with rare original. Napco four wheel drive conversion and sought after factory original 302 GMC inline six-cylinder engine (the 302 was listed as 160 HP in 1959 versus the 270 at 140 HP). 302 is also listed on the glovebox-mounted data plate.

I purchased this truck out of Arizona in 2000.   Sheetmetal including floorboards. door steps. cab corners. upper cab and door bottoms are EXTREMELY SOLID. Each cab corner has a small rust spot about the size of a quarter - the best you could expect for this vintage of truck.   Previous owner said that he had the engine running at one point.   I have not performed any work on the truck since I have owned it.   The truck has a clear Arizona title.

This truck previously served as a Goodyear tire truck as evidenced by the paint scheme on the back of the cab and signage visible on the doors.   The odometer reads 47. 41 miles. but actual mileage is unknown.

I assume that the truck went out of service as a result of a broken rear axle shaft as seen in the photos.   Most. if not all. of the differential components are in the floorboard of the cab.   The rear crossmember of the frame is also damaged. but should not be difficult for a good fabricator to repair.

The sheetmetal is in very good condition and the truck is extremely sold with little to no rust.   The VIN tag and supplemental data tag in the glovebox detail the following information:

VIN: 375PS12688E
160 Gross HP @ 3800 RPM
141 Net HP @ 3400 RPM
19. 00# GVW
32. 00# GCWR
Model 375
NP540 Transmission. Type GD14. Speed 5DD
6 Lug Budd Wheels
302 Engine
H150 Rear Axle (15. 00# Rating) with 6. 17 Ratio
F045 Front Axle (4. 00# Rating) Removed Many Years Ago at Time of Napco Conversion
8 Front Leaf Springs. 14 Rear Leaf Springs with 6 Auxiliary Springs

This was a very rare. expensive truck in 1959.   It is a model 375 with a 196. 5" wheelbase.   Base model pricing and primary options are listed below.   Add on optional Budd wheels. tires. auxiliary cab steps and shipping. the total cost would likely have exceeded $6. 00 in 1959.   This truck would make an incredible vintage hauler.

Model 375 $2873 List Price. $226 Surcharge
RPO 0636 for 302 six-cylinder $127 List Price. $9. 70 Surcharge
RPO 0717 for New Process 540GD14 Transmission $175 List Price. $13. 30 Surcharge
Code 147060 2-Ton Napco 4-Wheel Drive Conversion $1785. 60 List Price (July. 1956 Napco Price Sheet)
