Here is a beautiful example of a pre-war Ford. This 1941 Super Deluxe convertible was their new top-of-the-line model that year and represented a fresh design that embodied the spirit of the day. It also provided more room, a softer ride, and better construction than previous models. This one is a real trip through time and offers several desirable features including a power top and 2-speed rear axle.
This Ford has been remarkably preserved over its 80+ years. It exhibits no signs of rust and wears much of its original black paint which must be seen to be believed. It is in remarkable condition with a great shine with some light checking in places. The power convertible top looks fantastic as well and features twin electric screws. The body has a sleek appearance with the Super Deluxe accents, fender skirts, and door handles camouflaged by stainless trim. All wheels including the spare feature 6.00-16” whitewall tires with Ford script!
The 221 ci flathead motor fires right up and is very smooth and quiet, while the column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission shifts just as it should. Power is transferred via torque tube to a working Columbia 2-speed rear axle which allows six forward gears (though it is primarily used for overdrive). The brakes were the best of their day and remain very effective with new wheel cylinders all around. Also the original style 6 V electrical system works great and has a vintage Holley voltage regulator.
The handsome oxblood interior gives the car a rich look. The seats and door panels are in excellent condition while the woodgrain dashboard richens things up. The floor covering is the correct rubber in front, carpet in back. The headlights, dash lights, turn signals, and Unity fog lights all work properly. So do the speedometer and all four gauges. In addition, the horns, heater, vacuum wipers, and parking brake are functional. The large trunk holds the spare tire and jack with plenty of room to spare.
This car is truly a piece of history and is in exceptional condition throughout. It runs great and has such a classic look, and has obviously been well cared for throughout the last eight decades. But now it's time for someone else to enjoy this beauty. Could that be you?
