1976 was to be the final year for convertibles from General Motors. General Motors heavily promoted the 1976 Cadillac Eldorado as "the last American convertible". Many were purchased as investments. Most were sold for thousands of dollars over the sticker price.

General Motors officially did not produce any convertibles in 1977 or 1978. To fill the demand for Cadillac convertibles, independent coach builders e.g. ASC Inc, Custom Coach and Hess & Eisenhardt turned a few 1977 and 1978 Eldorados into convertibles. They used factory OEM parts to assure that they were factory grade.

There are no published production numbers or breakdown for these 1977 or 1978 convertibles. This is a ONE of NONE car, the car that GM did not make...but was made.

The Mediterranean Blue exterior shows extremely well.

The Blue interior is very nice. It is original with the exception of an aftermarket radio.

This Eldorado runs and drives very nice, as it should.
