1965 Land Rover Series IIA

This is a 1965 Land Rover Series IIA. Before reading the below details on our truck. please be aware that the vehicle is located at our summer home in Vinalhaven. Maine. This is an island off the coast of Rockland accessible by an hour long ferry ride. The buyer will have to have the truck trailered off the island--we can help arrange this. We can also provide a contact on the island who has the ability to trailer the truck to the ferry port on the main land if desired. It will be the buyer's responsibility to arrange pick up/and or shipping.  
We have owned this truck for roughly five years and used it as our dedicated island car for that time--we have enjoyed many summer cruising down the island's back roads with the top off and the windshield folded down. However. due to our limited time on the island we have decided to sell the truck so someone else can give it the TLC it is in need of. Our Series IIA is un-restored truck and has been well maintained by a local Land Rover enthusiast on the island during our ownership (who also owns a Series IIA). The truck was running and driving as of last summer when the battery died--we have not run it since due to a newly developed leak in the fuel tank. Mechanically. the truck ran well when it was still running--the gearbox is original (1st and 2nd gear are unsynchronized) and shifted smoothly. The engine also ran smoothly and was always quick to start even after our absence from the island. I have been told that our truck has been updated with a brake system from a Series III. This truck brakes very very well. Low range. high range and 4-wheel drive settings also worked well when the truck was running.  
Ultimately. this truck will need a partial and or full restoration as the chassis has succumbed to rust and in need of replacement. The bulkhead and firewall remains intact with no significant rust. Aside from the chassis. dead battery and leak in the fuel tank there are no other severe issues that we are aware of. HOWEVER. as an un-restored truck that has now been sitting for a year. please be aware that there are many old parts that would benefit from restoration or replacement (the tires for example). Consider this a project car that will be easy to get running but will require a good amount of work before it is safe to drive again.  
Included with the truck is the original hard top as well as a brand new canvas top and hoop set from Rovers North (this was over $1. 00 in parts). Odometer reads 5. 26 (we do not know if this is accurate). Also installed is the original overdrive by Superwinch.  
Please review photos carefully. I will do my best to answer any and all questions. but please keep in mind that we are not there in person to further examine the truck in person (we will not be on the island again until July).
