Most people remember these iconic McBurnie replicas from the TV series Miami Vice and it immediately invokes your ears ringing with the song “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins.   The car driven on TV by Sonny Crockett is just like the one you see here. a Corvette with a modified Ferrari style fiberglass body and trim.   McBurnie set out to replicate the iconic Pininfarina styled 365 Daytona Spyder since only 122 of the originals were ever built and what an amazing job he did.

Built on a C3 Corvette which allows this car to be low maintenance. easy to work on and reliable.   Built with a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Chassis and powered by a 350 V8 and automatic transmission.   In 2004 it received a light restoration from its front end. brake system. starter. addition of a Holly 650 4 barrel carburetor. new cloth top. radio and amp.   The car was minimally used over the next few years and has had a light freshening by us in 2016 including new Air-conditioning system compressor. full body polish and wax along with all the fluids changed.   The odometer shows 9843 miles since it was originally built as a Daytona and titled as a 1978 Corvette to keep the insurance rates down.

This is the type of car that can just sit in the garage and when you are ready for a cruise you can pull her out and she is ready to go.   A very no-nonsense type of ride that is ready to go. This is the perfect Daytona for someone who's always wanted one that they could drive immediately or its the perfect starting point for someone wanting to take one to the next level.

Engine/Transmission

a 350 V8 that has a nice rumble to it and mounted to a smooth shifting automatic transmission. This car starts every time. idles without getting hot and cruises down the road with ease.   This is the type of car anyone can drive and have a good time. Plus now she has cold A/C for those hot summer days. Everything works on the car from the gauges to all the lights and windshield wipers. The headlight covers will go down half way after the car has been parked after about 3 to 4 hours and then the moment you fire her up. they go right back up until you need to use your headlights. I really can not express enough how reliable and drivable this car is!

Paint/Body

Finished in iconic Fly Yellow that is a quality paint job that shows very minimal wear for its age.   There are some rock chips. primarily on the lower valance of the car and some spots that have some flaws although don't let my description fool you. the paint is in good shape but does have flaws like any vehicle painted 20 years ago.  The body is in great shape and only has a few cracks as seen in the pictures.   The flares look great. the hood looks great and the overall body work was obviously done by a professional.  

Wheels/Tires

This car has True wire wheels!  They are wrapped in a Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires with good tread.   This car truely is ready to hit the road.

Interior

Custom tan Ferrari inspired interior with 9843 miles showing on the odometer.   The gauges all work as they should.   The interior looks good with normal creasing in the leather seats from age.   The door panels are in very good shape along with the dash.  The top is cloth and it also comes with a boot that does has one small tear near a button. The top looks like new and is finished in tuxedo black with one small spot of wear at the very front.   The rear window shows no signs of hazing.

Fees 

If buyer is outside of Texas. a $50 documentation fee will be collected in addition to the sales price along with ADV tax (appox $90) and a $5 temp plate fee.   Documents will be faxed and signed and a drivers license copy will need to be sent over.   For buyers in Texas. the above applies. along with collection of registration fees and sales taxes per Texas law.
