what a journey here is where I'll start.
My dream of having what I considered the perfect c10. The one I had when I was young but couldn't afford. nbsp;'' to build hot rod and pretty enough'' until I became older and wiser The paint body and steel was a life lesson that I will never forget . This took many experts in the ways of metal refinishing and straightening that I never imagined . After years of preparation heart ache . arguments. stress and a large sum of money we finally produced to my knowledge. one of the straightest of its class 1963 c-10 short bed step sides. This body prep included welding up all the holes in the body. fire wall. under carriage. racing. einforcements. ockers. ear panels . skirting . fenders. nbsp;bed. bed frames. rear fenders and much more.
Once all the preparation was completed we move on to the finish work . We used the highest quality of ppg materials that we could find trust me this is not as easy as it sounds in California . we made our own custom gauging equipment to set the body lines like doors. hood . ender gaps you will see the consistency in the photos with the ruler. Looking down the body lines is like looking through a gun turret or scope straight and narrow you can admire in the photos below .
Next was the process of building the chassis wow another life lesson but a fun one . first was the disassembly this I took a heavy part in lots of grinding and help from a certified welder and chassis fabrication expert . second was assessing the performance integrity and functionality of or final product. this was a 6 day affair with lots of writing and evaluation so there was a clear understanding about cause and effect of each modification and upgrade . After heavy deliberation with guys who had close to 120 combine total years of chassis and suspension knowledge. They came up with exactly what I wanted . 2. 5" lowered and level all around boxed and c-notched in the rear proper spring rates to provide that solid comfort like a sports car . larger diameter to 1'' sway bars . energy poly urethane bushings for quiet smooth transition . the boxed frame to make it rigid improving cornering . eavy duty shocks. disc brakes to give you the desired stopping power required for the larger engine displacement . the braking system was up graded to a 8'' dual diaphragm booster front and rear master cylinder to enhance the petal to road feel. the brake lines were all upgraded to ss and ss braided where movement came into play
The decision was made early on that the truck will not be used on a race track so a stroked engine was not the way to go . we used a high performance 350 block new . arge camshaft . luminum heads. high rise manifold. 50cfm carburetion new 350steel crank shaft new h beam eagle rods and arp fasteners through out. This engine really proved itself on the dyno making 429 hp 403lbs tq . trust me you feel every bit of it with the modifications made .
The decision was also made that the comfort and quick action of an automatic would be more appreciated in the long run than a 5 speed manual. We were right on the money with this decision the stage2 7004 by phoenix trans mission was more than enough for this truck allowing us to put 410 of that 429 hp to the ground without blinking an eye with the 2500 stall the truck puts a lot of its power early on and allows the engine and truck to pull all the way through its optimum operating range
After regrouping and evaluating the finishing touches to the drive train and exterior . we/I made a detour to the upholstery shop wow what a different world lots of choices had to be made . color material head liner lighting column dash gauges ect . after looking through probably 100 catalogs I went with a classic look with modern touches bench seat lowered and covered in the highest quality available leather grey in color. billet aluminum gauge cluster auto meter gauges . didiot polished column matching steering wheel and u joints . grey head liner. grey leather door panels . complete top to bottom covering with dyna mat and jute . grey tmz custom fit carpet . 8 shade new glass window tinting. 3rd brake light . and new painless harness.
now that the final assembly of the truck is complete and road tested and tuned I feel an emptiness without a project to keep me busy im offering the truck up for 1/2 of what I
have invested in it if you would like to view or you need any questions answered please feel free to email me . this truck has been professional appraised a 93. 00
and has 124. 00 invested in it all appropriate receipts available and appraisal upon request of course . I promise you can't build this quality cheaper than this price .
