Offering here my 1963 Renault R 4 . This car was updated and refurbished in 2006 when I had a larger 850 motor and 4 speed gearbox fitted from a spare 1968 model . The front crossmember was swapped as well ( correctly engineered ) to allow for the longer box . The car was then used for 2 years . last registered in 2008 .

Mechanically it's not too bad . motor was very good . being totally reconditioned by Colliers Motors in 2000 ( from memory ) . 1 st. gear is a little noisy . Muffler and exhaust good . Tyres poor .

The body and interior are run down and it needs fully refurbishing . There is no rust in the floor ( floors replaced some years ago ) . but the paint has thinned and there's plenty of surface rust . Rust is starting to flake at roots of pillars and the 'bog' letting go in the old repairs on the front mudguards . Roof lining is good . back seat is good . front seats need restoration . dash plastics and steering wheel are mediocre . All electricals working . though headlights need replacing . one good one supplied .

It's currently drivable . but typically . the brakes require attention due to storage over the last 6 years . but will easily start and drive onto a trailer .

Numerous second hand spares available inc. later doors inc. sliding window rears . and my old 1968 bonnet with the later wider grille . Also a few new bits . plus original handbook and factory manual . All photos here were taken recently .
