Very rare Australian delivered factory right hand drive 1959 Pontiac Laurentian (but parts are easy to get). Only about 250 59's were ever sold here according to research on this website: ( ozgm. com/1959_retro_1. htm) however parts are easy to get as the Australian Pontiacs were Pontiac bodies on Chevrolet chassis and Chevrolet parts from that era are readily available.

The car has full registration and is driven regularly but is being sold without roadworthy. I had it roadworthied and registered in late 2008 and have done very few miles in it since. I have receipts showing $25. 00 spent on mechanical repairs. parts and body repairs since I bought it.

Runs on petrol and gas – gas compliance plate is dated 21-10-2008 (tank 03-10-2008). Carby needs a kit through it as it floods so I drive it on gas mostly.

a reco 350 Chevy motor (less than 1000 ks since reco) and T 700 R 4 Chevy 4 speed overdrive transmission with lock up torque converter. The motor heads have Weltite valve seats fitted (for gas). Motor has ceramic headers into a twin exhaust system.

The car was originally fitted with a 6 cylinder Pontiac motor and cast iron Powerglide transmission but they are long gone. I got it with a 307 V 8 and 2 speed alloy Powerglide transmission. The 307 only lasted a few months and I replaced it with the 350 Chevrolet motor. These motors drop straight in without any modifications needed.

The radiator was reconditioned and re-cored by Aussie Desert Coolers and is now a larger capacity triple flow 4 core radiator. The twin radiator electric cooling fans are Ford EF Falcon.

Interior needs re-upholstering including headlining. Body needs rubbing back and painting as well as window glass channels.

All rust in the body such as bottom of doors and sills etc has been cut out and new metal welded in and undercoated the same body colour - I have receipts to show this was done by a professional panel beater. The body is rust free.

Steering box is reco- change over from a company specialising in these cars located in NSW.

Radio doesn't work.

.

I'm happy to take genuinely interested people for a test drive.
