Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 516 votes
This Fiat 500 D sunroof sedan is an unrestored NZ barn find uncovered after the Christchurch earthquakes and imported for a private collection with import approval documents. A rare opportunity to own an original 'survivor' car that is in remarkable condition consistent with 70. 00 mls travelled over 50 years!

As per condition description the body is exceptionally solid with original floors and battery box. panels fit & doors shut well - some minor dents visible but exterior trim is present including original lights with aluminium rims and bases. Headlights are rare and correct 'Siem' 500 D units in excellent condition and all lenses are original not reproduction items.

Paint has fading with chips. scratches and localised areas of blistering and surface corrosion which is most noticeable on the bonnets and roof - there are small corrosion blisters in the bases of the doors and front jacking point mounting is distorted under the front panel. Bulkhead is solid with no creasing and front panel is original with correct 500 D headlight buckets.

Roof has the correct 500 D removable metal rear section which can be unbolted and removed if you wish to fit a 500 N style full length convertible top.

Interior has original seats and covers which are showing age cracks and deterioration of foam padding. carpet and door trims have been replaced at some stage although original rubber mats are retained on the wheel wells. The sunroof and frame is in good condition.
Vehicle is driveable and the engine is correct and original for the vehicle. runs well with all original cowlings and ancillaries intact. Gearbox and clutch operate well. Brake cylinders have been replaced.

Tyres are original cross ply type in correct 125/4. 40. x 12 size and show age cracking. all wheels are correct 500 D style including the spare with original aluminium hubcaps.

This car is in a 'time warp' example of how it would present in its era and it can be preserved and recommissioned 'as found' or will form the basis of an exceptional restoration. Sold unregistered with import documentation and no RWC.
