The Cortina Mk 1 was introduced to Australia in 1962 with two models. the base model 220 (poverty pack coupe) and the Deluxe. Because the Deluxe was £25 pounds more than the base model 220. buyers opted for the Deluxe model making the 220 base model rare. Add to this the "Jail-Bar" grill which was only ever available in the first batch of Cortinas before being updated makes this base model 220 super rare. This makes finding a real 'Jail-Bar' Cortina rarer than hen's teeth. When was the last time you saw one of these?

Only read on if you are prepared to undertake a complete restoration on this rare 2-door Cortina 220 coupe. It has been in storage for nearly 30 years. last registered in 1988. The original 1200 cc engine is the correct matching numbers that the Cortina was built with. it has a 4-speed manual gearbox with floorshift. Colour is white with red trim. It does not run. and the tyres are perished. one tyre is missing all together. What you see is what you get. it is mostly complete but study the photos and ask questions if you want something clarified. I'm happy to send out more photos to those interested.

Like any car that is 50 years old it does have rust. it is mostly concentrated to the lower panels (repairable) although you can buy many replacement restoration parts quite cheaply. There is some rust in the floors which will require sections put in - it's not rotted through but I can see some holes on a cursory look. You are welcome to come and view the Cortina anytime by appointment. it is located in Pascoe Vale (northern suburb of Melb). Delivery to any suburb in Melbourne is an extra $100. otherwise bring a trailer.
