PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CAR IS NOT FOR SALE IN CALIFORNIA
Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over 100 large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a dealer will post all but the most flattering of professionally finished photographs. We prefer to post the many photos taken of the car. in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight. in order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree.
West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional and virtually flawless example of this very rare and unique 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300 D W 123 D 3. 0 L 5 cylinder 4 Door Long Wheel Base Limousine Sedan with Diesel fuel injection in its original factory 'Astral Silver Metallic' color paint with its original and virtually flawless 'Blue Cloth Woven' interior. matching color Mercedes-Benz hubcaps and only 62 K undocumented but believed to be original miles!
Reportedly originally purchased in 1984 by Charles 'Bebe' Rebozzo. a renown Florida banker and businessman who was notorious for being a close confidant. financial advisor and friend for over 44 years to President Nixon and according to our records the car was used by Rebozzo to transport Nixon around Key Biscayne. FL during his visits there in the mid 1980's. The car will be sold with all its original owners manuals. service booklet and tools.
The Mercedes-Benz W 123 is a now legendary series of flagship executive vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz from 1975 until 1985 and was a successor to the earlier W 114 and W 115 series. From 1977. a limited number of Long Wheel Base versions (3. 25 mm or 134. 8") were produced by Mercedes-Benz with a 3. 0 L straight 5 cylinder (OM 617. 912) Diesel engine and these stretched sedans would comfortably seat 8 people and could be ordered as either a 240 D. 250 or 300 D model. The W 123 series ended production in January 1986 with over 324. 18 W 123 series cars being built but with only 4. 79 LWB Limousines!
These diesel models are considered to have one of the most reliable engines ever produced and one of the key reasons for Mercedes popularity around the world today as the ultimate long distance and durable touring car with many models still being used around the globe as taxi cabs boasting many hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock. They offered a unique combination of luxury. exclusivity. economy and reliability that could not possibly be matched by any other brand making it the vehicle of choice by countless diplomats. executives and other such entities. These luxurious cars still command a strong demand internationally. especially low mileage and well maintained and unabused examples such as this particular example.
Enthusiasm for the 123 series increased further in 1977 as this was the year in which Mercedes-Benz presented three additional body variants: the coupé. the long-wheelbase saloon. and for the first time in the brand's history a factory-built estate wagon. In August 1977 Mercedes-Benz introduced the long-wheelbase version of the intermediate class saloon: the wheelbase of the W 123 (3. 43 metres) was 63 centimetres longer than that of the saloon (2. 80 metres). That provided enough space for a third seat bench and made the car a comfortable executive company car or hotel limousine for seven/eight passengers. Only the 250. 240 D and 300 D models were offered with the long wheelbase. The W 123 line was continuously and relentlessly developed and improved and refined throughout its production cycle and by 1985 the series was near perfection and marked perhaps the ultimate expression of Mercedes long renowned and well deserved reputation for build quality. durability and longevity. Despite its imposing proportions and powerful engines. the Long-Wheelbase saloon was not mainly intended as a solely representational vehicle. rather. this rare Long Wheel Base body variant was intended to serve as a sophisticated touring car for several passengers for a variety of upscale purposes and once again impressed the industry with its high degree of ride comfort and great spaciousness and predictably many of these exclusive vehicles joined the fleets of diplomatic embassies and the era's top celebrities and social elite.
This particular model was obviously always garaged and babied by previous owners as it still boasts its original paint with obviously therefore no signs of any accidents and has a clean CARFAX report. The car still has all its original parts and has absolutely no rust whatsoever! The car was obviously never driven in winter weather or was exposed to the elements and has all the signs of always been a non-smoking car since new. The original and very striking factory 'Astral Silver Metallic' color paint is in absolutely beautiful condition and the original 'Dark Blue' woven cloth front seats with two rear fold down 'jump seats' and the rear seat are also in absolutely beautiful condition throughout with virtually no signs of any wear. The original leather dashboard is also in great shape with no cracks or blemishes (obviously always garaged from the sun and elements). The trunk also appears to have been hardly used and still has its original spare wheel and factory tools unused in their rightful compartment.
The car drives exactly like such a well maintained and serviced Mercedes-Benz Diesel with believed to be only 62 K original miles. as stated by its previous owners. ultra low mileage and extraordinarily rare for these notoriously hard driven vehicles and virtually just broken in for this legendary engine. The car reportedly has a new alternator and battery. new brakes. shock absorbers. tires and all the power windows work and the air conditioning blows cold. The engine is extremely strong with no noticeable oil leaks and the temperature always remains cool.
Without a doubt. this is one of the finest cars ever built by Mercedes-Benz. or for that matter any other car manufacturer. and they are now becoming increasingly more desirable and hard to find. especially with such low original miles and in such all original and unabused and unrestored condition - certainly you will look long and hard to find a finer head-turning example of this rare factory built Long Wheel Base Limousine in its original factory paint available anywhere else!
